How many guys on our offense had career years last season? Teddy and Darnold led offenses have always crumbled in the redzone. We're talking about two guys who have never thrown for more than 15 TDs in a season.

I was LMAO when that Eagles RB lost four or five yards AND went out of bounds. Like, damn. Other hand a turnover that's the worst possible outcome in that situation. And like you said, we still out-derped them.

Oh, he is now. And they can't use the injury excuse. The two guys who are out are our two new Gas who both came to us with serious durability concerns. Them missing time was entirely predictable.

The issues the Seahawks have been having on the OL for years now married with this disaster of an OL we're fielding = definitely concerning.

Yeah, I thought I understood the pick. I thought it was made with the intention of allowing us to let Anderson walk after this season and net us a nice comp pick in return while replacing Anderson with a guy in a cheap rookie contract. But then we extended Anderson and he disappeared so now I don't know WTF the plan was/is. If we were planning to extend Anderson all along WR probably shouldn't have even been on the board in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Hell, maybe not even the 3rd unless some insane value was there.

I don't disagree that Brady has some room to grow as a play caller, but he looked a lot better last year with a limited QB who didn't have such a tendency to throw the ball to defenders.

We don't have an OL or the answer at QB. Best of luck with high expectations given that reality.

Nah, I just didn't drink the whole pitcher of Kool aid after the 3-0 start. I realized we beat two of the worst teams in the league and a Saints team that was missing a good chunk of it's roster and coaching staff. 3-0 is 3-0, but I knew those three games really hadn't told us much about who we are as a team. I don't think we're as bad as everyone is panicking into thinking right now, but I don't think we're as good as everyone wanted to think we were at 3-0. We're somewhere in the middle. Which is pretty much what I expected. I expected us to be .500ish this year.

Good grief

I don't understand the kid gloves we've treated Darnold with. Fitts says he's in on every deal but when you backup QB is PJ Walker and a QB who has played better than your current starter gets traded for a 6th round pick, well that's a deal you should've probably been in on. I honestly think we weren't in on that deal because we don't want Darnold feeling any pressure whatsoever. And let's be honest, if Gardner Minshew was on the roster many of us (including myself) would be pounding the table to see him next week. I think we might be a little too focused on "traits" sometimes. Yes, Darnold has good traits. Better than Minshew. But Minshew is a better QB.

Sam Darnold press conference after Philidelphia game
LinvilleGorge replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, the OL has sucked but you can't overlook the reality that Darnold's worst play has come when he's actually had time. Pressure isn't causing the INTs. Darnold making poor reads and throwing it to defenders is causing the INTs. When he has time to actually think that's when he's at his worse. -
You want a Jerry Jones/Al Davis type. Ironically enough, the Cowboys are starting to find success again now that Jerry Jones has finally stopped back somewhat and let his football people drive the football decisions. I don't doubt that Tepper will soon strongly urge Fitts and Rhule to make a bold move at QB if Darnold does indeed ultimately fail, but I do think he'll leave the final decision up to them on who they target.

You want a strong man to sweep in and save the franchise. I don't think you're going to find many hedge fund managers who are also elite football talent evaluators and football coaches, hence why they employee GMs, coaches, and scouts. If those guys don't deliver, they'll get fired and replaced by guys who hopefully will.
-
I think Tepper understands how vital the QB position is. I just think he fully bought into Rhule and has stayed hands off in letting Rhule handle the football operation. I'm unsure of how long he'll stay patient there though. He said soon after buying the Panthers that this is a .500 league and the key elements for being competitive year in and year out are a head coach, a GM, and a QB. Those are the three must-haves. St some point, I think Tepper is going to pressure Rhule and company to stop beating around the bush and go all in on a QB. Stop trying to get lucky and score a steal.

Dante was amazing today. Overall, the D played great other than a complete inability to stop runs to the left in the 4th quarter. It's difficult to find much positive to talk about offensively, but I do think that Moton/Christensen is our best OT tandem. Wait... one positive offensively. Chuba Hubbard is becoming a damn fine #2 RB.
