  1. Tepper promised us no more mediocrity. What we didn't realize is that what he meant by that is he was taking us straight to the NFL's basement. Never before had the Panthers had four consecutive losing seasons. Never before had the Panthers had four consecutive seasons of finishing 3rd or worse in their division. Enter David Tepper and an all new era. An all new era of previously unmatched futility.
  2. They shouldn't. But that's what I'd demand if I was on the Mayfield side. At this point, both sides just want a divorce. Force the issue. The Browns are just holding onto him at this point hoping a QB gets injured in camp changing the market. It's a long shot. The 4D chess move would be for Baker to come out and say how excited he is to suit up for the Browns again once Watson is suspended.
  3. Because he's not going to play under his current one because he doesn't want to be in Cleveland and the Browns don't want him in Cleveland either. This whole situation is caused by both sides of the equation massively overestimating Baker Mayfield's value to the rest of the NFL. The Browns really thought they were going to be able to trade him for a decent return. Hell, why wouldn't they after seeing what the Panthers gave up for the worst starting QB in recent memory? Baker thought he'd have multiple suitors and basically end up being able to pick his landing spot. Now here they both sit looking like the dumbasses that they are.
  4. You think the Browns are going to leave all that cap space on the sidelines? He's not Deshaun Watson with massive trade value. He's a guy they're struggling to give away on the trade market. Mayfield will end up traded with the Browns paying nearly all of his salary or he'll end up getting released.
  5. The Panthers might be a poo show, but the Browns repeatedly remind everyone why they're the Browns. These guys find a way to bungle everything in the most hilarious manner possible. Honestly, if I'm Mayfield I'm telling them they have two choices - release me or give me a one year contract equivalent to the franchise tag value. He has Cleveland by the balls.
  6. He looks more like an aging career minor leaguer still trying to make it than a rookie.
  7. If I had a talented young secondary that I wanted to inject with some swag in the way of gift wrapped INT balls in camp think I'd sign him. Wait a minute... that's us! maybe it's some real 4D chess that he's still on the roster...
  8. Evidently his body was basically shot by the time he got to the NFL. I can't remember if it was knees or ankles but he was basically physically trashed.
  9. Yeah, I don't think he's going to be able to stick with Darnold no matter what. The good thing is that I don't think he has any real desire to. If I had to place a bet on our most likely starting QB this coming season, my money might be on Baker Mayfield. I don't think we're done snooping around these vets just yet.
  10. Brandon Smith probably has the clearest pathway to significant PT given our weakness at LB and it being a position that lends itself to rotational/situational play.
  11. My pond is spring fed, largely shaded, and deep. It's only about an acre but it's 30 feet deep. It stays cold so the turtles are really only active a few months out of the year. They only emerged for the summer about two weeks ago. They'll disappear for the winter the first cool snap in the fall.
  12. I would not be shocked if there were some folks when we drafted Amini that were legit like
  13. I was specifically talking about the Hurney era. 2nd round busts we're very much the norm. Guys like Kalil were very much outliers for Hurney.
  14. Eric Shelton, Amino Silatolu, Greg Little all say "Hi!"
  15. Ah hell, I'm so numb to throwing away 2nd round picks from the Hurney era that 2nd round busts barely even register to me anymore.
  16. Mid to late round picks are where you draft those types of guys. There are no picture perfect prospects left. You looking at good players who lack ideal measurables or you're looking at great athletes who are really raw as football players... or you're looking at off field concerns - character red flags or injury issues.
  17. I guess according to me 3rd rounders don't exist. Nah, 3rd rounders I'm hoping for a future starter but expecting at least high quality depth and/or a quality rotational or subpackage player.
  18. It's especially perplexing because of how good he looked in camp and preseason. Honestly, he looked like possibly the best rookie WR in the league in preseason. Then... basically he just disappeared.
  19. Here's the way I breakdown draft picks... Top 10 picks I'm expecting a star. Period. 1st rounders and 2nd rounders I'm looking for an eventual key starter who is going to contribute significantly as a rookie (unless it's a developmental QB pick sitting behind a quality vet). 4th and 5th rounders I expect to make the roster and at least provide serviceable depth for awhile and hopefully develop into more. 6th and 7th rounders are flyers IMO. If you get anything out of them, great. But expectations should be pretty damn low.
  20. Yep. Bad teams tend to stay bad in large part because they often squander the premium picks their sucking lands them.
  21. I don't know what happened, I just hope he bounces back strong. I absolutely think he has what it takes to be a top flight NFL DT.
  22. Yeah, Mills is a fairly promising prospect IMO. I really liked the guy and I wouldn't have been shocked if we picked him had he lasted a few more spots.
  23. Hell, if the list kept going I might take anyone from 60-70 over Darnold.
  24. Not sure how this Brown vs. Burns argument came to light anyway. The Burns long-term decision is this year. Brown still has two more years and then a potential third via the fifth year option. There's no pressing decision on Brown at all.
