    I said it yesterday and I still think it - if Fields is there he's the pick. I just think that with the Pats talking to ATL as high as #4, they're gonna get him. We'd need four teams in front of us to say no to the bait they're going to be dangling.

    Lamar is a better passer than Vick ever was though. Vick had a cannon but it wasn't equipped with much of an aiming apparatus.

    Last year all I heard was how much better Brady's system was going to make Teddy. They know what they're getting and they know Teddy can run this system. They're not dumb.

    Coach, GM, QB We see what Tepper thought of the coach and GM. They're gone. I wager to say that Tepper wouldn't have jettisoned prime Cam like he did those two.

    It makes his hire in Jacksonville very questionable IMO. Forget the migraine issues that led to his OSU retirement. The guy has a long list of NFL QB failures and you're hiring him to develop the NFL career of the most anticipated QB prospect since Andrew Luck? Okay...

    When? Honestly, we've been amateur hour when it comes to a lot of stuff. "I can't wait to coach Cam" "Teddy Bridgewater is a franchise QB" Then we publicly trashed Teddy to the point where we HAD to go a different direction.

    There's no dead money in '22. There's very significant cap savings.

    This would be true if his base salary was zero or very low. It's $17M. You'd be paying him $17M in new money that is $17M in cap space you'll never get back by keeping him on the roster this year. Hell, I would've given up a 6th just to have him gone.

    Everyone gets a fresh start with a new team. If you're not giving a guy a fresh start there's no reason to bring a bust in.

    Can you just make this your signature. We all know that we don't know anything for sure regarding future play. What we do know is that Sam Darnold has three years of terrible NFL QB play under his belt. That's what we know for sure. He isn't basically a rookie as much as you desperately want this to be true. He's a failed NFL QB hoping to resurrect his career.

    If you pass on a franchise QB at #8 then you're indeed betting the franchise on Sam Darnold.

    A better move than betting the franchise on Darnold which is what you're doing passing on a franchise QB prospect at #8.

    I'm fine with that too, but in that case you wasted a 4th, and future 2nd/6th as well as possibly forgoing a franchise QB option in the meantime. That's all I'm saying. That trade and Sam Darnold's presence honestly shouldn't weigh into our action at #8. Darnold just kept us from being in a situation where we felt our hand was forced to do something stupid there.

    We'd almost certainly have to take less. But that's fine. We'd still have our QB answer in Darnold. The flip side to this is if you pass in Fields and he becomes great elsewhere while Darnold continues to be a bum. OUCH.
