Seven consecutive losing seasons will do that. The offense had one awful three and out then a great TD drive. The D honestly did not play well, even the starters. Shedeur missed a couple of open receivers early and a receiver flubbed up and cut a comeback route half a yard short of the sticks on a 3rd down. Overall, I didn't see a lot to get excited about to convince me that the results are gonna be much different this coming season.

On the flip side, if either gets a sack in week one they'll be surefire HOFers.

Andy Dalton is gonna take $8M of Tepper's money this year while no longer being an NFL roster caliber QB. Mad props to that. Well played, sir.

1. Not sure we know that for sure. I mean, the D was going up against the opposing 4th string QB. 2. Yeah, a team that won three games last year absolutely dominated us as soon as our starters left the game. 3. The punt return game in particular looks to be full blown panic level red flag alert.

I could probably find this same article in each of the past seven years when we were desperately sifting through the rubble looking for a glimmer of hope. Long story short, I'll believe the Panthers are heading in the right direction when we actually start winning some meaningful regular season games. I'd be willing to bet that half the wins in the Tepper era have probably come when we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs or virtually eliminated like needing to win out and everyone else needing to lose out.

We've looked like refried horse poo in preseason for seven consecutive years and then proceeded to look like refried horse poo in seven consecutive regular seasons and Cam Newton ain't walking through that door to save us. If you're a good organization that consistently puts a competitive team on the field, I get this mindset. But what we saw last night was just business as usual for the Panthers in the Tepper era. And that's precisely the concern.

The final score is meaningless. Looking inept isn't.

That one drive was nice. Everything else was rougher than a South Carolina highway.

Losers: The same folks who have been losing every since David Tepper bought the team and told us that the days of mediocrity were over - the Panthers' fans. Now we remember those days of mediocrity as the good old days.
