Why carolina can not* afford to lose Burns
JawnyBlaze replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Eh, at the time I was in the camp that they made the right decision not trading him. In retrospect, I was wrong. I thought we’d take Stroud and at least be competitive and be ready for playoff aspirations in year two. In reality, those draft pics would have been waaaay more valuable than those 40 qb pressures. Take Burns away and those pressures don’t dissipate, someone else would get some if not most of them. A lot can be done with scheme. Even now, if we can get a first, take it and run. Even the Chiefs’. We can spread that $20-30mil around and use it to improve the team in more areas. -
There’s hope for Tepper…. Jed York example
JawnyBlaze replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
That’s the key difference that makes him better than Richardson. Sure, Tepper hasn’t picked a good hire yet (Richardson hit on one in 20something years: Fox), but at least he isn’t going to fire Morgan and rehire Fitterer. He learns from his mistakes and doesn’t remake them. Unfortunately there’s a lotta mistakes out there for him to make, but hey at least the pool is smaller every time heh edit: also he’s not afraid to admit he was wrong. After waiting too long to fire Rivera and Hurney, he waited less with Rhule (but still too long), he didn’t hesitate when he saw the problems with Reich and his staff. -
Icky was good last year. This was his only bad year. Definitely deserves another look under the new staff to see if he can stick at LT before talking about moving in to G.
-
It’s only been three years. We still have two more to see if he can stay healthy before we would need to pay him a second contract.
-
Absolutely not. Has his availability been disappointing? Sure. But when he plays he’s been great, one of the best in the league. He could never have another injury and be one of the greatest of all time and we would have let that go for a 5th or some nonsense. Thomas Davis was always injured for three years. CMC was traded for low value because of injuries and now the 49ers are in the Super Bowl with CMC in the MVP discussion. You don’t sell low. If we could get a first for Horn, sure. But we can’t.

Adam Schefter reports Panthers targeting Brandt Tillis
JawnyBlaze replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sounds like he’d be replacing Suleimon (sp?) -
It’s not uncommon at all. You have some owners to whom the team is an investment and they’re totally hands off. Then you have owners who love the game and like to know what’s going on. Tepper is the second. Someone just posted a day or two ago here a screenshot saying they have the same situation in Atlanta with the new hc and GM reporting to Arthur blank

Doubling down on Young. I don't like it. We NEED Young insurance.
JawnyBlaze replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s not necessary to fix the QB situation this year, we’re too resource strapped for that. It’s not going to be a great year, that much is known. -

This is the make or break year for Young. I don’t want to spend valuable limited draft resources on a guy that isn’t thought highly enough to be taken at the top of the first. Like I said before, if Morgan and Canales have some sort of insider info that guarantees a guy that will be available to us will be a legit franchise guy then sure. Otherwise, build the team and be ready to spend a high first (moving up if necessary) on a franchise QB next year. -
No, I haven’t seen what Tepper is actually like in his relationships with his employees, just like everyone else on this board. So I don’t know his track record. I don’t buy into speculative narratives that get popular through repetition. I know his track record for hiring the right people isn’t good, but I’m still going to be cautiously optimistic about these hires. I know he has one case of losing his cool in a dispute with someone near him in Jacksonville, that wasn’t a great look throwing a drink on someone. Pretty much everything else people whine about is conjecture.

Cautiously optimistic. Closer to love it than indifferent though.

J person, Athletic. Canales has one job Fix Young
JawnyBlaze replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
It’s really more mental problems than physical ones. He has a weakish arm but plenty of QBs have thrived with similar arms. And of course QBs with similar difficulties seeing over the line have thrived (and in one case been a top ten-ish all time QB). With Young it’s about decision making and processing speed (but but but the S2!!! Is garbage.) After those two deficiencies his next biggest problem is accuracy. I’ve never seen a more inaccurate passer, whether under pressure or throwing from a clean pocket to a wide open receiver. After that would be arm strength. -
The More I Hear, The More I like Dave Canales
JawnyBlaze replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Like many other narratives, that was just a speculation that kept getting repeated until simple minds just accepted it as true. For all we know Tepper wanted Stroud, Reich wanted Young and Tepper let him take who he wanted. When the decision proved to be comically bad, that’s why Tepper fired him in the middle of his first season, because it was such an easily avoided mistake. That’s also basic speculation but makes more sense with all factors included. No one knows or will know who was team Stroud and who the dummies were except the three people involved in the decision and there’s no way any of them will give a straight truthful answer about it either. -
My Bucs fan buddy said the same thing. Texted me an hour ago he was dreading this news of us hiring him.
-
Everyone here that knows exactly how much input he had in the building of this roster, raise your hands. No one? Not one soul? Yea didn’t think so. A lotta assuming and overreacting as usual.
-
Wow people are really shitting on him for not shitting on his players in his presser? Has anyone in the history of ever given an introductory presser saying “yes this roster fuging sucks. I’m going to nuke it into oblivion. That highly drafted LT that struggled in his second year? Yea fug that guy. He’s cut. Next question.”
-
Well I did put sanders in a different category from the others. I dunno how true that is but I can believe that more than the other three wouldn’t be better with a better QB
-
That’s in retrospect. If we had a QB that could get them the ball and coach/OC that were competent it’d be a different story.

Dan Morgan should be seriously considered for GM
JawnyBlaze replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Read earlier that Suleiman is out. -
But he’s never gone internal before. This is a new strategy. Didn’t he hire a firm to help him? What if this was their suggestion?
-
I respond all the time. I mean you referenced a response of mine. Once someone has proven to be a brick wall, I stop banging my head against it.
-
That’s why you get poo. You’re a ***** psycho. I didn’t say he’s great. I said he’s not necessarily a yes man. To make your statement look even more stupid, Nas said in his thread he knows a guy that knows Morgan and Morgan was the only one that would stand up to Tepper. And that’s the guy Tepper hired. Should make you think about reevaluating your biases. But I’m sure it won’t.
