Round 3 - The Carolina Panthers Select DJ Johnson - EDGE - Oregon

We needed a pass rusher, not a traditional LB -

We’ll see. How much development has he had by NFL coaches? -

Cuz that OLB isn’t what we need, a pass rusher. And the hyperbole is counterproductive. Johnson is way bigger and almost as fast -

Just on a surface level he reminds me of Demarcus Ware. I’m NOT saying he’s as good or anything, just first quick impression on his movement ability and size -

Just saw Simpson go to Baltimore, he’s not even the same type of player as Johnson. More of a traditional LB, we obviously wanted a pass rusher OLB. Simpson is way smaller. -

Definitely could have been gone before 93, been a bit of a run on these rushing OLBs. I like the pick based on what they said about him on nfln and his physical profile. We’ll see how he develops -

Good size, don’t know anything about him. -
Yea I think Barno has a breakout year too
-
Might be the starter sooner rather than later. Hurst is solid but no all star. He’s the present, not the future.
-
Dunno why not, I like him a lot but he doesn’t have an obvious position in the new defense and we’re loaded at S. He’s not going to worth more than that, he hasn’t been lighting the league on fire since after his rookie season, even if we know he could be doing much better in a better scheme he hasn’t proven it yet.

Yea, at 39 I was hoping for Mingo or Washington. Flood our #1 QB with weapons like we should have done for Cam. Would love to trade Chinn straight up and take Washington or trade up from 93. No trading next year’s second though, it’s our first pick of the draft.
-
Yea I expect them to. Might even trade Chinn straight up for a third or late second if a willing trade partner is found when someone we like is available
-
Of course they go to break on our pick

Which team ‘won’ round 1 and which team ‘bombed’

And Washington… Rivera deserves everything coming to him. -
Does the Atlanta pick influence the Panthers on day 2?

A running back? In 2023? Nah. -

The Texans were easily the #1 winner, drafting elite players at the two most important positions. Only time will tell if they’re able to successfully utilize them. On paper the Eagles did really well, but one of the biggest red flags to me is if your college coaching staff doesn’t speak highly of you and Carters whole coaching staff hated him apparently. All of our division rivals failed at drafting this year, the only caveat being yea Bijan is good but not as good as CMC and we saw how much success he helped us have. A top ten RB better be Eric Dickerson and Barry Sanders rolled into one. And I dunno wtf Detroit thought they were doing. Probably the worst first round of anyone. The Bills also did well, only one pick but they navigated the board well and got a stud TE by trading ahead of the Cowboys who most likely would have taken him. Bonus points for screwing dem boys. -
At this point we don’t need the 3rd anymore. Our 4th plus maybe a throwaway could get 31. Or just the 4th at the beginning of tomorrow night
-
I was hoping we’d trade up around where the Bills did with Kincaid still on the board. Now I’m hoping any pick now could be a trade up for Mayer. I don’t know any defensive guys worth trading up for but I wouldn’t be surprised there either. Mayer is still my preference. Lotta people thought he’d be gone by the middle of the first.

Ugh. Hope Bijan helps the Falcons win as many games as CMC helped us
