Dan Morgan pre-draft press conference
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would not expect a future starter from every pick in this draft. Most of those will be day 3 picks. -

Yes. You cannot have too many pass rushers. -

REPORT: Panthers open to trading down from #8
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's been mocked to either the Ravens or Eagles in the past week. Prior to that it was the Dolphins. He's big and fast with great ball skills so who knows? I feel the same way about him as I do Walker, uncertain.- 104 replies

It is Quiet...Too Quiet: Thanks Dilworth Neighborhood Grille?
Jon Snow replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
The entire room is taking visual clues from the boss. Its impossible to avoid. I finally had to limit the number of meetings I had with the staff. I had to limit my involvement to phone calls to individual team leads and monthly staff meetings. It made a night and day difference in creativity and productivity. -

Jeremiah says he's the best in the draft if that means anything. He raves about him.- 104 replies

They are different types of safety apparently. Starks is more of a strong safety where Nick is a free safety according to DJ. I have not researched either to know enough either way.- 104 replies

REPORT: Panthers open to trading down from #8
Jon Snow replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It surprised my as well when I saw how many times they met with him. At first I was thinking he was a trade down option but now I'm not so sure. They are targeting a pass rusher but it must be in the 2nd round on day 2. I think day 1 it's Walker or Emmanwori at 8 as the 2 options. I haven't seen them show as much interest in any offensive players on day 1.- 104 replies

I've thought that for awhile. They've shown way too much interest in him.- 104 replies

All of this ^^^^^^. I'm not a professor but I have supervised highly skilled professionals for 25 years and everything in this post holds true in the private sector as well. The most powerful person in the room will always influence his subordinates just by their presence alone. No matter how many times I tried delegate authority you cannot truly empower you people until you remove yourself as much as possible. Every time I was in the room all eyes were on me whether I had anything to do with what was going on or not. The top dog has the room whether he wants it or not. It just human nature. -
I think you have to factor need into it. What do they desperately need?

How could you not believe someone who calls himself Slick Rick?

It's still ongoing. It seems there's a large contingent of Penn St. fans on here.

God forbid this is the way the Draft shakes out
Jon Snow replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
He seems to be the player they've shown the most interest in so far. He fits the system perfectly and fills a huge need. The best case scenario would be to trade back a few spots of course so it would feel more palatable. I think that's what they are hoping for. I also think they are fully prepared to pull the trigger if they cannot. -

I'm sticking by my prediction that if they are stuck at 8 they will take the safety from SC. I'll even go so far as to say that they will take him even if Walker is on the board. How do you like me now? -
Panthers Prospect Visits/Meetings (Final Update-4/22)
Jon Snow replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mike pretty much nailed what the Panthers need and who's a better fit in the 1st round. -

I think that is what they want to do if they cannot land Walker. If you just go off visits alone one would think Emannwori is who they really want. Trading with Dallas would be best case scenario for the Panthers in this draft. -

In this scenario the hope would be to swap 1st and 2nd round picks with Dallas and still get who they want on day 1. -

Nick Emmanwori would be the Panthers pick in this scenario. -
Is he worth it? Maybe. I know the team is seriously interested in him or they wouldn't have met with him 3 times. He's the best safety in this draft and 1 of only 2 safties that are day 1 worthy picks. The way I see it is that the team has the option of taking a player at a position that is a huge value to draft. That's edge, tackle, qb or wide receiver. Ask yourself who in this class of day 1 picks could benefit the Panthers the most to draft. Now look at the visits and see what positions they have put the most time in day 1 players. Two things stand out to me. They are focusing on defense and it's OLB and a safety. I think it comes down to 3 players and they are Walker, Stewart and Emmanwori. Everyone else is smoke and mirrors.
-
The problem with saying bpa is who's bpa are you talking about? The term bpa is always in the eyes of the beholder. When I look at all the projected day 1 selections I see 2 that stand out. The next guy could go 4 or as far down as 32. It's that wide open the way I see it. If you want my honest opinion Cam Ward is a day 2 qb and is lucky he's the best of the group.
-
I think you just have to decide on who you really want out of the day 1 players regardless of where there are slotted to go and just take them when you are on the clock.
-
After Carter and Hunter there are about 20 other players that could be bpa. It just a matter of team need/preference.
-
I'm retired so I have 6 Saturday's every week.

Ima gonna throw a name out there for you guys to smoke over. Nick Emannwori. Remember that name.
