  1. Think about this: I am going to guess about this, but I am pretty sure- Our top 2 WRs wore #1 when we drafted them--the same number worn by our QB. (eerie? wait, there is more)' Funchess has the widest difference in jersey numbers from college to pros in the history of the NFL. Devin Garner wore #98, Cam wears #1.
  2. I read an article that said Cam had more unforced errors than Ryan and Brees combined, so if you are going to attack an opinion's logic, do so with fairness. Yes, he has been under pressure. Yes, his WR corps is not strong. Yes, his OC calls plays that are too conservative and you would have called something different. I got that. However, when the WR is open and he has time, he can be inconsistent. His mechanics--even when not pressured--are not good. He is a great athlete and can become a great QB, but if you think he is great now, brace yourselves--he is not. Cam now has his weapons. He should have a lot better protection. He should have a better run game behind him , better special teams (field position) and even a better defense. If he is great and has been brought down by his supporting cast in the past, he no longer has that to deal with. 2015 is what we have been trying to build for Cam, so he now has the tools to win. Its on Cam now--not the OL, not the WRs, not the OC. This is Cam's year, and I think he will have a great year. He will have a summer to prepare (he has missed 2 summers) and he is not injured. He is mature now, and he seems to get it. All the pieces are in place. I expect him to take it to a new level, but the process has taken time. So enough with the excuses on both sides. Let's support Cam and hope for the best and lets not crown him until he becomes the best.
  3. He was a player at WF before transferring, FWIW. If I were him, I would be working on G/C skills.
  4. I think there are 2 players who have a real shot-- Blechan, but I wish they would keep him at SS. He is a smart, aggressive player. Peters has the length and experience to play our D--and has a chance considering we didn't address the position.
  5. Frankly I am almost as excited about the UDFAs as I am the drafted players.
  6. Maybe Turner knows him well enough to get him here. You have to like the OT situation.
  7. How about the "Catch the damn ball!" brothers?
  8. Last year, people were upset when we drafted Benjamin. Wanted Morgan Moses or someone similar. Last year, people were outraged when Gettlemen picked Ealy in the second round. We needed a T, but Gettlemen hated the selection. Looking back, he was right. Ealy is going to take a step in 2015. They got mad when Gettlemen drafted a G in the third. We had our Guards--Silatolu and some veteran. We needed a T. So I am not going to judge here. Do I think the defense got better? Yep. Do I think Cam got another offensive weapon. Yes. CB, RB, OT. Get those, and I think we are set.
  9. I don't know the details, but I am aware that it is probably a mistake to assume that one player's injuries are identical to another's, so I will let it play out.
  10. A side note: Randy Gregory and Greg Hardy on Cowboys. JJ is an idiot.
  11. He was injured, which is why his 40 times were 3 tenths apart between combine and pro day. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000478655/article/michigan-test-results-show-devin-funchess-vastly-improves-40
  12. It takes a while to see what Gettlemen is doing. When it comes into focus, you feel a lot better. I hated the pick at first--wanted Fisher. However, Funchess is the #2 WR we have needed for a while; Fisher would have ridden the pine. Funchess is simply not the type of WR we expected--everyone wanted that "deep threat", as if Ginn, Brown, and Hill can't do that.
  13. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000478655/article/michigan-test-results-show-devin-funchess-vastly-improves-40 Benjamin II
  14. I often look back on draft days gone by in a nostalgic stupor think, "I was totally wrong." I am willing to bet you are the same---everyone.
  15. I doubt we draft 2 WRs. WR is a need, but that need is eliminated with a solid #2. Benjamin, Stud #2, C. Brown, Boykin, Cotchery, Ginn--already much better than last year.
  16. Very sorry, Sgt. I have today and Friday off. I am going to have grilled chicken thighs with Barbeque sauce on some, buffalo sauce on the others, corn on the cob, and some shrimp with cocktail sauce. Not complex, but it makes a subtle statement. Of course, the sauce could change to Texas PEAT or I could add steak for SCHERFF and Turf. Maybe some fried FISHer with some WHITE wine. Either way, a bouquet of FLOWERS for the table. I won't do that again.
  17. The best scenario? Make only PEDs illegal, but make injury settlements invalid if the player has drugs in his system when injured. Think about it. Players would get high to deal with pain. Some might play high.
  18. Landon Collins (remember how excited we were to get Lester? Collins is better, but not first-round better) Andrus Peat (I read an article about him that I can't get out of my mind-basically, he is a bust waiting to happen) Melvin Gordon (Beware Wisconsin RBs. Gordon gets no yards, no yards, and then he busts one. Suggests that he has poor vision, because I know the Wisconsin OL was opening holes
  19. Very good point. I was going after the people who were taking the position that character doesn't matter--better take him or our NFC S rivals will. I think you are correct--we don't know why he had red flags--if he can explain them and you are satisfied, then you have removed the character issue so that you can draft him. Drafting someone with character issues, however, is a bad idea. Same page, brother Thomas!
  20. What some people do not seem to get is this: Character matters. It matters in the locker room, the weight room, the film room--they are all connected. A TEAM is genuinely only as strong as its weakest link. A teammate who does not value you on the field or off it shows that by getting into trouble. If you have ever been on a team playing at a high level (high school-pros) you understand character and its relationship to commitment. Now to address the many stupid comments I read here: Jerry Richardson is the only owner in the league who played in the NFL and he values character. Many of you are the same people who raised hell when the Panthers did not exercise the option to keep Steve Smith here until age 37 at a cost of about $19m. He was a cancer in the locker room. No WRs ever brought in after he was here ever prospered because he was a dick. But you saw the glitter, the on-field fights and the spinning of the ball after a catch and thought, "Hall of fame!!!" No. 750 yards, 35 years old, and a locker room cancer. Not a hard cut. If I am in the news and totally innocent and it is learned that I am partying with a crack ho, driving a car 100 mph, and have a collection of assault rifles on my furniture at home, I imagine I would lose my job even though I was not caught or convicted of a crime. How in the hell do you all think you should keep your job when you are tarnishing the name of the company you work for? Are you so stupid that you think Goodell is a judge and is operating under the constraints of the legal system? Here are some guidelines that most people with a brain seem to get: 1. Don't drive 50 miles per hour over the speed limit. 2. Don't date crack hos and hit them when they are acting out on crack, 3. Keep your gun collection locked up. Now, if your experience on a team was narrated by Madden and involves a joy stick, you probably won't get this. If leadership experience on your resume features the words "fantasy football" you probably won't get it. But these players live together, work together, and depend on one another. Character is very important, something that is difficult to see if you lack it.
