I watched Christensen tonight and this is what I saw: He was in good position nearly every play. His hands were usually in position. He was technically sound, and he can slide really well. He got bull rushed a bit. He needs strength.

So... Sam Darnold. Are you encouraged or discouraged
MHS831 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
for all of you trashing Sam because it was vs. backups, etc. It was also his first action in the stadium, and he was playing behind a line that has a lot to do to get right. I think he was better than Teddy. I will leave it there---I predicted 2 TDs and 146 yards--he got 2 TDs and 160 something yards--about what I predicted--meaning that he did his job tonight. -
I meant about my love for mannequins---allegedly.

Me too. What have you heard?

Official Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread
MHS831 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I do not think the HOF game should give a team an extra preseason game--if they all get 3, then keep if fair and square. -
I nearly said that, but then CRA would have come back with, "The same could be said about Fitterer" and he'd be right!

Everyone calm down!! There is enough suckage to go around.

I really like the quality of this draft on day 3, and if you can point me to a day 3 in any draft before this one that is/was worthy of equal expectations, I'd love to hear it. And yes, we did hear that about Gettlemen, and he did a good job of getting us out of cap hell with one year contracts. There was reason to be excited. We were without crystal balls then, as we are now. But this is what makes it fun--and us fans.

Last minute PREDICTIONS ... How will Sammy D do tonight?
MHS831 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
149 yards. 11/16 2 tds -
Those are your words; nobody is saying what you are hearing. We are simply saying we like the aggression. So far, his first draft seems strong. Gettlemen never traded back and Hurney rarely did--this guy is different.
-
The core of the 2003 Super Bowl was pre-Marty Hurney. Hurney was moved to GM in 2002, we go to the Super Bowl the following year. The 2001 draft is when we grabbed Morgan, Jenkins, and Smith.

Matt Rhule's QBs troughout his coaching career
MHS831 replied to JABANOG's topic in Carolina Panthers
Damn you Rhule, you simple-minded SOB!! How dare you turn around programs and win with average to below average QBs! Scumbag!!! -
Sure, and I get it--not praise as much as "liking what I am seeing" The aggressive style, the proactive approaches to perceived problems.

I thought we'd pick (in round 1) Surtain, and that loathsome excuse for a human Fua (kidding) picked Horn. The bet was he got to choose my pic--and he knew that I loathed Person--that annoying, nasally, droning, never-ending questions about nothing important style he uses. So he got me. I think 45 lost a bet as well, which is why his pic is of a huge belly from OTAs, I think.
-
Is he a guard? Or are you referring LT to RT?
-
That was something Hurney tried to do. He had an eye for talent, he just used the other eye.
-
He will be starting soon. I think his only drawback is conditioning, and when that gets right, he could be ready to challenge Miller, who is on a one-year deal anyway. By next year, I see Brown and Christensen starting--maybe our two guards.
-
I think I can change it after the kickoff vs. the Jets. And I have some ideas for a replacement.

Because the only vision we should have is hindsight, right?

how did i forget him?

I work with an obnoxious Steeler fan.

I see the Old Bay in the corner. I used to live in Annapolis, and they sold that seasoning in the gallon cans--looked like gasoline canisters. This was a great call--of course, they had blue crabs there, but I prefer shrimp.

I always wondered about the reasons he is labeled a genius or prodigy. If it is genius, how do commoners recognize it? If we could recognize genius when we see it, then we were capable of conceptualizing it ourselves, making us all would-be-geniuses. Did someone call him a genius then everyone repeated it (Emporer's new clothes type of thing.) I mean, he wanted Bridgewater and we won 5 games--4 with Bridgewater. He failed to get first down by calling a fullback dive--and we questioned him. Had that FB gone for 6, we'd be calling Brady a genius. I think there is something there, but we have to look for percentages and not miracles.
