  1. When I was in graduate school in the early 90s, i worked in the sports department as an agate clerk. Remember that data on page 2 that featured lake levels and betting odds? Anyway, I worked with Tom Sorenson, Rick Bonnell, David Poole, Ron Green, and a few other guys. The sports dept got to work at 4pm and worked through midnight. So we had the entire news room to ourselves. You never see the paper the same way once you get to know these guys-- Ok, I'm back. What was the subject?
  2. To me, this is great news --- cap is tight, and we have many needs.
  3. Reading my mind to the letter--get help.
  4. These may be common knowledge to people, but I am just discovering them. The most important thing I notice--some players are all over the place---a first rounder on one, a fourth rounder on the other--I expect this will settle down soon.
  5. If you like this list, I can add to it; just post a link and I will update periodically if it gets pinned. Jeremy might want to pin it because we have no lives. These are all free and require no registration, but you can if you want. https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-draft-simulator https://www.pff.com/draft/nfl-mock-draft-simulator I like this one--trades initiated by other teams, but you negotiate terms. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft/ I like this one too--trades initiated by other teams https://first-pick.com/ Some of you use this, but it is a bit ridiculous https://fanspeak.com/ontheclock-nfl-mock-draft-simulator/index.php https://thedraftnetwork.com/mock-draft-machine
  6. I know that I am late to the party, but the Jets and Dolphins--are they not 2 teams that have confirmed an intent to stay with their struggling first round draft pick QBs? (Not sure what Philly is saying about Wentz/Hurts). This seems to be speculation based on an assumption that Houston would be drafting a QB this year--he knew Jax is not trading. Atlanta has Ryan for now, Cincinnati wants Sewell, one might expect. Philly is a very wild card, but they could trade Wentz for Watson--or Hurts. Detroit? Nah. So Carolina is an obvious choice/guess.
  7. I am a severe skeptic, but here is how I would go about it if we had to trade players and picks. #8 overall, Shaq Thompson, and maybe a first rounder in 2022. That would give Houston a place at the table and a pick to use to trade up (#8 overall + first rounder in 2022) to move up with Miami)---Houston gets a QB and a solid LB. The Panthers would have to dump some cap, so Thompson is probably the only marketable cap figure we'd be willing to part with. I think Houston would get a better deal.
  8. Me too. I would take him in the second round and try to get Scott back on a cheap deal and draft a T in the third round---It would not hurt my feelings if the first 3 picks were QB, T, C.
  9. yes, and those OL drills expose weaknesses like no other drill in football. HOWEVER....Remember Norwell was not good in these drills, but was good functioning as a member of a unit. So it is part of the process--not all of it. SIDESTORY: At an OTA, my sons were getting autographs and Norwell was right beside us, talking to an obnoxious Ebay scavenger. They man wanted a picture after getting his autograph, and Norwell let him. The man said, "Why have I not ever seen you smile?" Norwell said, "I haven't either."
  10. I agree--but the "experts" are saying this QB rich draft would be pricey. With nearly half the league kicking the QB tires...
  11. I am guessing that is what it would take, based on past trades, etc. People need to know how expensive it is to move up--in an QB-rich draft--$$$$.
  12. No--I got where you were coming from---it just made me think.....I went off on a tangent!
  13. This is going to sound crazy, but what if... We realize that signing all 3 WRs here in the next year or so is problematic. The Jets want to take a look at Darnold with some weapons, so they are open to a trade back. We send DJ Moore, #8, #40 and a first rounder next year to NY for #2. Would you do it? NY needs WRs, they can draft a QB and OL help immediately--and they would have an established WR.
  14. I am guessing that we have to be talking to the Jets if we have 1 player not named Lawrence that we must have. And for a QB, I get it. pull the string.
  15. Yes---It was funny how this board reacts. I had a friend who was close to Brandon Beane--BB went to high school where I taught before I taught there. I used to hear insider stuff from my friend--from Brandon---and post it here as a theory. I was often blasted by Huddlers with more knowledge...Verge has been right, for the most part, and we should understand that scouts are not making draft decisions--but they have a community--they talk. I am not suggesting that Brandon revealed classified information, but he would share with my friend insights and insider information about players--I recall that RR and Hurney fell in love with Silatolu because they saw him body slam a 230 lb DE in a DIII game on a video...that turned out well. When I mentioned that Hurney and Rivera discussed players, some Huddlers blasted me, explaining the process to me in detail.
  16. I am seeing Wilson, Sewell there too, but when the dust settles...probably right.
  17. I knew he had 1. Jeez. 31 years old. Still, when I talk about Brady's "type" I guess I am referring to his systems "type." But I was not counting on him leaving.
  18. Read my posts---not sure you are responding to what I am saying
  19. I am REALLY looking forward to breaking these QBs down.
  20. Id add Jones too. I really see Brady liking him in this system--not to say he will not like Wilson et al better, but...
  21. Watching tape, but not really for results. Footwork, release, reads, pocket presence, throwing on the run, the route tree, etc. I do not know the answer because I have not looked and in some areas of QB assessment, I have no idea what I am seeing vs. the ideal. Will be fun to take a look
