i feel in love with him during the season. He is a Morgan dawg. I do not think he covers well, but he is downhill LB from what I have seen.

What has he won, maybe 5 games in 2 years? His play has improved, but you have to consider that he REQUIRES a $100m OL to be successful, so it seems. He had a good November and December. Before that, he was going to be cut. We have time to see more, and I realize the cost goes up. In my view, any player who sucks for 2 years and then the light comes on should give that team a hometown discount. We could have traded him away for a conditional pick. We could have benched him permanently and ruined his brand. Instead, they showed faith in him and we took losses while he was figuring it out making over $500k per game. It hurt the fan base, it hurt merchandising, ticket sales, etc. We had more jerseys from visiting teams in our stands humiliating us at home while a first overall draft pick is figuring it out. Then after everyone sacrificed for him, if he were to demand top dollar I would take that personally. I know, twisted thinking. Not how bizness works, but I do not think I can give him $30m per right now when I feel slimy giving him $10m on his rookie deal. Still, I am hopeful that his growth continues.

I think, under the right circumstances, KC would be the team with the most desperate offer. Do we want to go from 8 to 31, no, but it would give us 2 extra day 2 picks and a future high pick. And yes, it would be a huge risk for Morgan. The only way I see it is the Chiefs added a player at a need position and some day 2 picks and possibly a first in 2026. Desperate, but the Chiefs are in win now made and their OL was just exposed, which is exactly what the Kendrick Lamar halftime show was about. And Morgan could move down to 31, get the higher second rounder and some other picks and then trade back up for a Green, for example.

Here is how we move back: First, Offensive tackle is not good in free agency. The Draft: The Jets need a LT. Will Campbell is the consensus best Tackle in the draft, and they take him. All those other teams (I count 6-8 who need a T--and I see KC STARVING for one after the Super Bowl) decide they need to move up to get the best pure LT in the draft, Kelvin Banks out of Texas. After Banks and Campbell, there is a pretty sharp drop in talent level, dropping from A players to B players. The next two OTs are Right Tackles, so anyone needing a LT would have to hope the fifth overall OT, Wyatt Milum (arguably) would be there at the end of the first round. Knowing that so many bidders are doing the same thing and they all have phones, I honestly think that Campbell or Banks is there when the Panthers pick and the phone will be ringing. If they both go before the Panthers pick, crickets. Here is the Math: Likely to be gone when Panthers pick: Ward, QB Carter, Edge Sanders, QB Graham, DL Hunter, WR/CB Likely to be available when Panthers pick: There are 2 picks before the Panthers pick once those five get gone. Among those are these players: McMillan WR Johnson, CB Will Campbell, OT James Pearce, Edge Javon Walker, Superhero. If we only had 10 more. (LB) Kelvin Banks, OT Now, if I am a GM on a team that needs an OT, I feel fairly strong that an OT is not going in the top 5. I am working on potential trades for the seventh and eighth picks, ready to make a deal as soon as Campbell or Banks goes off the board. The Raiders pick 6th--they have needs at OT, WR, and CB if you assume they sign a QB in free agency; I think Darnold goes there, personally. Regardless, there are no QBs worth #7 overall (unless Sanders falls), so they will draft an OT or CB--in my view,. They are going to shop in free agency with a lot of $$$. I am guessing they get their CB then. the Raiders' will likely draft OT Campbell, but do not rule out TMac: Biggest Weaknesses: Quarterback Offensive Tackle Cornerback Wide Receiver Running Back The Jets pick 8th. Of course, their phone will be ringing off the hook for Banks if this happens, and the Jets have many needs now that Rodgers and Adams are gone. While they too need an OT, they have more pressing needs as well. Edge rusher is their biggest need listed here after QB, but their defense was ranked #3 in the NFL last year (I was surprised). Their offense was ranked 23rd. They will be focused on revamping the Offense with the losses of Rodgers and Adams. I see them taking a T or Tmac. Biggest Weaknesses: Quarterback Edge-Rusher Wide Receiver Safety Interior Defensive Line Offensive Tackle In this scenario, the only ways the Panthers can trade back is: 1. If the Raiders do not take an OT and the Jets do. 2. If the Jets refuse trade offers and take the best available edge or WR at #7. 3. Both OTs are gone and a team wants the best CB or WR in the draft and is willing trade up. I do not see a lot of depth in this draft at CB or #1 WR. What may cause the Panthers to stay put and pick: 1. Edge. They see Pearce or Green as part of the second-tier edges and need one of them. 2. They like TMac and see the offense taking the next step with him, knowing they can address IDL in round 2 and have Clowney and Wonnum for another season. 3. The do not re-sign Mike Jax and need an outside CB and have the chance to draft Johnson to pair with Horn. 4. They fall in love with Walker and Evero develops a boner on how to use him properly. From this perspective, I would give the chance of trade back slightly under 50% I would speculate that if we draft, we take Pearce, Johnson, or McMillan. I do not see Walker being a good fit here, but I understand why some of you like him.

The only way we trade back is if an OT is on the board that a good team (with few needs, like Baltimore or KC) decides to get aggressive and move up. If you watched the super bowl, you saw KC's OL getting mauled. That will be their focus.

I am not a fan of taking a TE in top 10 unless it is Brock Bowers who was drafted 13th. Atlanta tried it. I think he will go late first. (20th or so)

Glad you brought this up. My thinking (as you say, speculation) they were able to sign 2 major free agent guards last year and it had the same value as signing a new QB. I think they will sign a big name DT free agent. I love Milton Williams (Eagles) and his salary is projected at $12m. He is 26. Had a 70 PFF score and 40 pressures on 500 snaps. If Philly does not re-sign him, I bet we go after him hard.

I am guessing that Cam Ward goes 1 or 2 and Carter goes 2 or 1. It is possible that Hunter goes third. That would throw Sanders into the Aaron Rodgers free fall alert status. It seems that the Giants have no choice but to take Sanders--but if they like another QB better--like Dart or Will Howard (I am still predicting that Howard continues to creep up boards) they could trade back and still get Dart or Howard or Ewers. NY fans would probably want GM Joe Schoen's head, but I sense bust in Sanders. Personally, I would not take Sanders if I needed a QB. He projects a vibe that he is entitled--better than he is, and his father would be loud and critical if things went any way but the Sanders way, and he is, according to a few articles I read, pursuing a career in music. Lotta potential noise there. As a "common" player in college, I would resent the fact that some players are making millions. Sanders had a towel with a gold buffa---oops---dollar sign embroidered on it. Almost reminds me of Brian Bosworth coming out of Oklahoma some 40 years ago--lotta hype, lotta self promotion--bust. Again, just the vibe I am getting. I think only a desperate team like one of the NY franchises will take him early. Cleveland? Carter or Hunter, depending on what happens with Garrett there. Someone is going to trade up to get an OT. I see the Titans trading out of the #1 pick if they can get a taker--the Giants come to mind. There are some good ones in Free Agency right now--Prices are as high as $17m--realistically, a player like the Colts' Blackmon (who plays deep free safety really well) should cost around $7m, according to Spotrac. SF's S Hufanga is the practical vet I would like--26 and his salary is predicted to be $11.9m. I would think we could add one of these and then draft a S and we could be better than last season. I worry that Evero's defense puts too much pressure on safeties for run support--we have had some decent players flop here.

So I am guessing Warren TE is not even under consideration for you.

It is almost, in some minds, a toss up between Green and Pearce for the second edge, but the more I read about and watch video of Pearce, the more I like him. Green is a stud as well.

Interesting. We are not talking safeties--and we all know how a stud can change the defense (Ed Reid, Troy Polyester from Pittsburgh) I guess we need a S with a great beard or a great head of hair. Seriously, S is pretty deep in this draft class. I expect one on day 1 or 2.

He is going to have a good combine, and I think he is the guy we are not talking about. He is (surprisingly) good vs the run too. I have predicted 221 players to be our first round pick so far--pretty sure I will be right.

It is ridiculous how some people react when someone disagrees with their opinion. First of all, this is before the combine and there is a lot more info coming out. That is what I heard. His ratings as a player were high, but as an edge, he was not great. I see a player who would bust if not used properly. Tweener? I used to coach football at his high school (in the 90s), so I want him to do well. My final prediction for today: We like to draft local boys, so Jalen from Salisbury is possible. So is James Pearce from Tennessee. I think Pearce will be drafted before Walker. (MARK MY WORDS!!!) I think it is very possible that the Panthers draft him. MHS Proclaims, Pearce will be the pick.

If they think Moton is on a bad wheel, RT would become our biggest need. I smell a little smoke there--stay tuned. If so, we could trade back a few spots and draft a top OT--Ohio State's Josh Simmons was injured most of the season, but he is a tremendous athlete and has a background at RT. I just do not know about the knee--I sense that he will be fine, but I have heard so many stories of big men going "bone on bone" living on cortisone shots until it is over. From the available list and our needs, I think you have to draft DL, but if Will Johnson is there and you can't trade back, Horn and Johnson would be a stud CB tandem. Better take a 10-year lockdown CB than reach for a Green or Pearce, in my opinion. That could change after combine. I think we will trade back and I think it will be to a team looking for an OT with few other needs. There are so many teams that need OTs this year. The Rams, Ravens, Chiefs, etc. come to mind. Few Needs, must have OTs.

And in the long run, that could be the best thing for now...Coker and XL can step up. AT gets an understudy who can split time. A new TE and a mid round might be the smart play.

I 'd rather have an OT and Will Howard, for example. Not participating is common, but I would not be surprised to see him fall like Aaron Rodgers. He is not a home run.

I did not realize they had buyer's remorse a few weeks after giving him $90m guaranteed -- how does anyone in the building keep their job after that. It sounds like the owner got involved--but he should have been involved before signing Cousins. Man, that was bad.

I know and I agree with you 100% from a perspective, but what does he have to lose? Sanders, most not his fault, is complicated, and there are concerns about his focus and attitude. (see below for an article about that). First, just talk talent. Many believe this is a weak QB class and Sanders is coming off a "less than amazing" year. Some say there is no QB with a first round grade. I also think, in my heart of hearts, that there are a few QBs in this draft with skills that will be on display. Howard, Ewers, Dart, for example. If they throw well and Sanders is standing on the side wearing a hoodie and wiping his forehead with a towel with a gold embroidered dollar sigh, they might opt to take the OT, for example, and grab one of these "next tier" QBs in round 2. If you have an early first round pick, you do not get better drafting a second round talent in the top 3 of the draft. If he were Cam Newton, I could see sitting out-oh wait, Cam participated. I just do not think a QB who is probably going to be over drafted coming off a poor season should be resting on his laurels. I know there is a business side, but as a competitor, I say put it out there. Not participating comes off (from that perspective) that you are hiding something or worse--you think it is beneath you. Personally, I don't think Ward should sit out either, but I understand the business side for Ward more than Sanders. Sanders is a very risky pick, in my opinion, in the top 5. While this time of year is about the magnifying of problems that are no big deal--Sanders comes off as if he is entitled to a degree. "CBS Sports' latest mock draft predicts him falling to No. 21, with Miami's Cam Ward emerging as the potential top pick. Complicating matters are reports that some NFL teams have questions about Sanders' focus. According to NFL Rookie Watch, teams are wary of his off-field pursuits, including his interest in music and branding, which could impact his draft stock.
