  1. Yep. Most of that is because the NHL has kept the salary cap as simple as it can possibly be and as long as the annual cap number isn't ridiculous, you won't see an A-Rod or Albert Pujols type contract in the NHL. I prefer it that way over having to hire some Ivy League educated capologist just to have an elementary understanding. That being said, there are some loopholes that could be closed in the NHL system (Tampa Bay Lightning and their $92M roster last season).
  2. Say hello, Greg Hardy.... That being said, he thumped whoever that was in the 1st on that break. When was the last time you saw Dougie do that... if ever?
  3. I'm liking what I see from each of the new blue-liners.
  4. Everyone is contributing and each line is doing their job.
  5. Jordan Martinook. Nice work down low on the turnover.
  6. Not a goal. There were only a couple replays from the overhead and it was, at best, not conclusive. I never saw white between the puck and the line.
  7. Another bullsh!t call. Threw an elbow right in front of the ref and Necas gets a slash while Aho lays on the ice.
  8. Imagine that, Carolina gets jobbed on a video review.
  9. Welcome to Raleigh, Tony D! BSSO has Tripp & Mike, who are you guys hearing mispronounce names?
  10. lol... sorry. But look on the bright side, he's only on a 1-year contract.....
  11. He scored a game-tying cannon shot in his opener with Seattle.
  12. As bad as this O-line is, Ray Charles could see the pass rush. And these few bits of his presser give me even less reason to think he's the right person in the job. Sounds like Rivera...
  13. First of all, it was a rhetorical question. Second, yes, except in different terms and I spend as much time expounding on the O-line problems as the GM & HC spend actually doing something about it, which is next to nothing.
  14. Why put the stats up there? Seems like way too much trouble. Just say, "Non-existent."
  15. But it's no longer a rebuild. Remember how this very board reacted to the Gilmore trade 10 days or so ago? That was after the CJ Henderson trade which occurred a few days prior. This place was abuzz with "Fitterer wants to win now!" "This isn't a rebuild anymore!" Maybe the rebuilding begins with the OC, ST Coord and possibly the HC.
  16. Even with this mess of questionables and IRs, it will be yet another low point in the season when Kirk fugging Cousins plays 4 quarters of football while Carolina does their patented 20 minute playing time disappearing act. The Vikes catch up and take the lead in the 3rd and hold on for a 27-20 win.
  17. Tough couple games right out the gate- Islanders and Preds.... ughhhh. I feel confident the skaters will do their part and they'll be fine, but the net-minders might make this a painful season. Let's hope they both stand on their heads this season and have career years.
  18. 59 points in a league where no one plays defense. Wow. This only further proves my point the NBA is unwatchable.
  19. Yeah. After all, didn't a lot of us older folks spend our childhoods riding our bikes behind the DDT mosquito fogging truck and spend the first several months of our lives chewing on the lead-based paint that our cribs were finished in? And we're perfectly normal...
  20. Svech got paid in August and he's set for another 8 seasons. Aho is still under contract for this season and 2 more. TT is a UFA the same time as Aho.
  21. The last month on the Huddle- 30 days ago: We're rebuilding. It's a multi-year project. After a 3-0 start: Hmmm, this team may be a playoff contender. After the CJ & Gilmore deals: Fug the rebuild. Fitterer is wanting to win now! After 2 consecutive losses: TBD
  22. A little surprised to see Gelinas waived. He played pretty okay with what time on ice he had. I'm very concerned with the goalie situation. Anderson gave up 3 soft ones to Nashville the other night.
