  1. Franchise tag says he doesn't have all the leverage since we don't have to apply until 2024.
  2. Good job trying to help someone on the huddle to go to a game. Ignore any rude or smart-ass comments. Some folks never got beyond middle school humor. But what is really sad is that they think they truly are funny.
  3. Remember when John Elway was middling at best and then won two Super bowls late in his career. He is in the hall of fame based on those Superbowls late in his career. As for max contracts we don't know what we will pay and may not until the end of 2023. So all this max contracts talk is way premature at this point.
  4. Hall of fame usually means a great player who plays at a high level for a long time. Way too early to crown him anything yet but let's see how he develops over the next decade.
  5. So the whole we need to tank for a QB is pretty much BS given that suddenly the QBs in this draft arent as great as projected and perhaps Corral is as good as most of the guys we could pick.
  6. Some of the best players in the hall of fame were DEs close to Burns size. Strahan, Jack Youngblood, Charles Haley, future HOF Von Miller and the list goes on.
  7. You just picked guys who were bigger. How about a list of several guys Burns size who were or are considered some of the best in history.. How abou Von Miller, michael Strahan, Jack Youngblood, Jason Taylor, Charles Haley ,etc. And again it won't be big money before 2025 so you are wrong or exaggerating your point of view.
  8. He is under contract in 2023 so we are talking 2024 before we have to pay up. Then contracts are cap friendly in year 1 so really we can keep him for the next two years cheaply. As long as we don't give too much guaranteed money we won't be strapped to him. So we don't have to do anything right now and can see what he does this year and next. With a new line coach maybe there's room for improvement. He has the size speed and strength to be a 3 down DE. He needs to play smarter not harder.
  9. Funny. Thanks for calling me young. I rarely get that comment since I retired....
  10. Nah. You just can't accept you aren't the most interesting or the most knowledgeable man on this board. Keep reaching like that and you might pull something.
  11. That isn't what the board said about trading him for future firsts. Those folks wanted to do the deal. That is what the folks who didn't want to trade him like myself said given future picks are devalued and not worth the same as a 2023 1st. Once again you are the one who seems rather confused.
  12. Again no one said you should accept a third for a future 1st. Just that from a value point of view, future picks are devalued by GMs who do this every day. That is a reality. You can spin it how you want but that is how the system currently works. Glad you arent the GM apparently you have no clue how future picks are valued.
  13. Again stupid logic. First of all we didn't take the trade so this is all moot. But since we don't know what position any will be drafting in 2 years from now teams aren't going to make a bunch of trades for draft picks down the road. Most trades are for players for future picks or for the current draft where you know what you are getting. The future draft picks unless high ones are enticements to do the deal but not what teams are banking on unless they know you are drafting in the top 10. Too much uncertainty. And tell me how Cleveland and all their number 1 picks have become a dynasty.
  14. True we looked awesome in the first half but pretty poor in the second half.
  15. Ok thanks for the clarification. I guess I should change it or I will get 50 folks saying the same thing.
  16. He will get a bunch for sure and with Rhule here I might agree. But Wilks has them fired up and they are a top 10 unit. Peppers was here longer before he got discontent.
  17. No what you said is stupid logic. Who know what happens in 2025? You don't value potential which can vary from a number 1 pick to a number 32 pick the same as a proven commodity. Burns cost us a top 10 pick and has been everything we thought he would be. He has stayed healthy and is the best DE we have. Future picks are always valued less than current picks and should be. While we aren't a player or two away we also don't need a complete rebuild. He is a core of the defense and teams gameplan against him. That is worth more than what we could get years from now.
  18. But the right way to look at trading a first rounder who is a top DE for potential picks in a few years.
  19. He can. His issue is gap discipline and staying where he needs to be not holding the edge.
  20. Not true. Guys like Von Miller are around the same size and he can play in a 3-4 or 4-3.
  21. A first round pick in 2025 is worth what now? A third maybe. And a 1st in the 20s in 2024 is worth what? Maybe a little more. So we trade our best pass rusher who has improved significantly for what amounts to a couple of middle round picks in value. We can pay him and still have a low cap number in 2023 as new extensions are always cap friendly in year 1.
  22. Not sure if we do that unless we have someone better to replace him. Wouldn't be surprised to see some kickers try out this week.
  23. They sit around all day doing little but kicking the ball when needed. They make millions of dollars to kick it between the sticks. Good kickers make those. Unemployed ones dont.
  24. I wasn't surprised we lost, disappointed? Absolutely. But we didn't deserve to win today. You have to snatch victory when you get a chance and we didn't. Special teams cost us today.
