  1. Agreed that the response was not in a direct reference to Watson, however; if "we're not one player away" is the sentiment of the team, I would argue it's applicable to how the team may view spending the kind of resources it will take to acquire Watson. This is as close as Rhule got to addressing Watson, a complete non-answer. If Rhule or Fitterer had said anything remotely suggestive of progress on the Watson front, there'd be seven threads on it already. Joe Person: Will you look into these other quarterbacks who may be available via trade? Rhule: At every position, we'll always look at every opportunity. One of the things Scott [Fitterer] said when we interviewed was we want to be in on every deal. I think one of the advantages to that is a, we're always getting information and b, you know, other teams look at us and they can't say they know what we're going to do because we're always looking at everything. If someone hits the market, we're always going to talk to them. We'll look at everything this year. Just take it day by day.
  2. Fitterer also said some of the other recent trade tumors were not true. I assume he was talking about SF's interest in Bridgewater.
  3. This is a bigger deal than people think. Good long snappers are worth points.
  4. Be even better if Teddy was a quality, quality, quality QB.
  5. If the criteria to post is having played in the NFL, none of us would be posting...
  6. Albert Breer appeared on FOX Sports Radio this morning. Drafting QBs In discussing teams drafting QBs high, with none of the top four guys eligible for the Senior Bowl, no combine, and no private workouts, teams will get to see Wilson, Fields, and Lance throw live one time -- the pro day. Drafting a quarterback in the top 10 essentially ties the GM and coach's jobs to that QB. Will GMs be comfortable betting their jobs on a guy they've seen throw live one time? He also feels teams are over analyzing Fields and that in the coming weeks Fields might once again jump Wilson on some team's draft board. Bridgewater nugget Breer expressed a high level of skepticism that the recent story about the 49ers interest in Bridgewater had any validity to it. Watson After talking to several people who know Casserio well, Breer believes that if Watson is traded, it will happen suddenly and quietly. "We'll wake up one morning, and hear he's been working all night and now the trade is done." He also said that if anyone tells you they know how it will play out between Watson and and the Texans (trade/sit/play), they're lying to you. I will try to update this thread later when the audio is available.
  7. John McCain, the long time sports columnist from Houston, was on FOX Sports Radio this morning (3/2/2021) with host Clay Travis. He admitted his initial take on Watson not being traded was wrong, but explained Watson had not communicated such a level of discontent to him or any other member of the media. McCain now feels Watson will be traded in April before the draft. He sees MIA as NYJ as the only viable options. CAR, DEN, etc. are simply picking too low to appeal to Houston. Any deal with CAR or DEN leaves HOU without a franchise QB and nothing to market for the 2021 season. He believes Saleh can sell Watson on NYJ and that MIA's 2020 season should be enough to sell Watson on MIA. He again reiterated it's critical what Casserio's evaluation of Tua was for how valuable Tua would be in any trade with MIA.
  8. Two pages in and no one has posted:
  9. Adam Peters probably got a real good sense of how the Panthers view Bridgewater during his GM interview. For all the talk about how much the Panthers learned from the GM candidates, those candidates learned quite a bit about Carolina, too.
  10. If your only criteria for 'working out' is a championship, very little in the history of the NFL has 'worked out'.
  11. Well, if he had, he wouldn't have gone as highly in the draft.
  12. He sounded like he's still mostly thinking the Jets, but he certainly understands the appeal of Miami. 10-6 team. South Beach. Brian Flores. According to McClain, the MIA offer depends largely on what Nick Casserio thinks of Tua who Casserio would have scouted last year as the Patriots evaluated the QB market.
  13. John McClain was on the KJZ show this morning as I was driving in. A) He says the Texans have zero interest in a Teddy Bridgewater, Drew Lock level quarterback. He mentioned those two by name. B) Watson was in Miami this weekend partying with several Dolphins players. C) He still thinks the Texans hang onto Watson, but IF traded he would still rank NYJ and MIA as the most likely destinations.
  14. Footnote to the Wentz deal, but Derek Carr may be less available than some have speculated.
