  1. I generally agree, and I'm all for it, but you can't build Rome in a day (as it seems like we've been saying the last six years now). We're going to have to have some aging vets starting within the youth movement. I can't help but think of Jeremy Chinn...seems like he would've been a great box safety (imagine that).
  2. Perhaps, but he was actually good last season, not "solid," but good. You never can actually say when the drop-off is coming though...
  3. Evero may be fired, and I'd be good with that, but some people (NFL types) will say that we did him dirty. The gutting of our defensive personnel---what little quality we had (that strangely I'm having a hard time remembering) was jettisoned outta here in favor of the offense. At least that was the narrative. Perhaps it wasn't that, but the refusal or inability to invest in better players because we were too busy investing in the offense. Now, I'm skeptical of both (offense and defense), and I know you don't even believe Legette will really ever be what he was drafted to be. He certainly didn't have a great season. Though I understood it, I was skeptical of the Brooks pick. I have always been a vocal supporter of Chuba, and I think that I was right. I was also skeptical of the Sanders pick, not because I think that he's bad, but because I didn't see the TE as an important part of Tampa Bay's or the Seahawks' offense, and for all that they use the TE, Tremble would've sufficed. Don't get me wrong, I believe in TEs being a normal part of the offense, but there's no need to spend high draft capital on them if you're not gonna use them to their potential. The way we run our offense, why even spend a high fourth on Sanders when we already had Tremble? I guess what I'm saying is that they didn't use the picks on offense effectively, and that has ultimately left us wanting on offense and desperately needing on defense. Their seeming method---concept---way they went about business last offseason has not beared the fruit that was the expectation. Hell, we don't even know if Bryce is the guy after all that.
  4. Not too far off (and that was back in July).
  5. I wanted Harbaugh, and I wasn't the only one. We just thought that there was no way Tepper would hire him, and we were right.
  6. Not quite sure where he currently ranks, but you may be being too hard on him. He's probably middle of the pack. His play has fallen off, but so has the quality of his backfield mates.
  7. I can't even get Igo to fix the site to send me a password recovery email. I'm no longer top dawg, but an alt.
  8. I know that plenty of people want to disregard stats in favor of the eye test and all that, and I've been guilty of it when it just doesn't support my narrative based upon observation, but you have to have some kind of way to judge these guys. I will say that QBR has been lauded as the better metric by many analysts (especially ESPN analysts), But passer rating is important as well, as you will see from perusing the last five games of these guys. What we can't see is, at least from these stats, is what I call the "win gene." Some guys are simply going to carry their teams to the win near the end of games (like Mahomes or Brady), and some just can't seem to get it done on a consistent basis. We also can't necessarily quantify from these images is how important the supporting casts are (from an offensive and defensive perspective) and how they affect a QB's overall passer rating and QBR, but we all know they play an important part, and I believe that it's not a mistake that the best QBs, especially the ones that push for championships, have solid supporting casts. Bryce is making strides, but is not in the top echelons at this point, even during the last month or so. I think Bryce has some failings for sure and I'm still highly skeptical of his height and how that impacts his ability to see the field which of course speaks to making the proper reads, ball placement and passing in general, but he may be able to hold his own among the big boys one day. Plenty of people are still lauding Stroud and he has shown an ability to be an elite passer at times, but his decision making leaves a lot to be desired, and, honestly there may come a day (and it might not be that far off) that Bryce may surpass him, if nothing else at QB efficiency. If you're going to give Stroud grace, then you gotta give Bryce Grace as well. I don't care what Stroud looked like yesteryear, how's he looking now? Pat Mahomes hasn't been very efficient this season, but there's a trend the last couple of games And everyone has lauded Josh Allen Allen has been excellent, but has he really been better than Lamar Jackson? And, then there's Sam. Darnold is carving teams up. And last but not least is the so-called Joe Cool (which is impossible because this guy isn't 68 years old). Burrow is playing well, but he may be left on the outside looking in. Burrow's line has been letting him down, but he's still playing at a high level. So, again, there's only so much QBR and passer rating can tell you. But, I'd say that just looking at the numbers and reflecting upon the context of the situation, Bryce may be able to be that franchise QB that we've been looking for. It's not a stretch based upon his efficiency. But he has to keep improving and play to a level of consistency befitting of a QB1. That being said, he's going to have more games with a passer rating in the 100s if we can really expect to be legitimate contenders for championships. That QBR will have to rise as well. Whether he can raise his game to that level is anyone's guess, but with better personnel will likely come consistently better play...At least that's the hope. And yes, that is actual "hope" and not "cope" looking at his current efficiency level.
  9. I'm kinda listening, but Bryce's issue seems to be consistency of which you're not really acknowledging. I think that some of it simply stems from not being able to see the field due to his height.
  10. He may deserve an opportunity to start next year, but only after some real competition.
  11. I am too, just not when they play us. Good kid.
  12. Sorry to hear that. Well wishes from Top Dawg! I hope he's a Panthers fan and not a Cowboys fan...Wait, what am I saying? Either way it's pretty bad. I love my Panthers though.
  13. I mean, I think people considered him more of a QB whisperer than offensive whiz kid or young offensive mind. Either way, he was like a dozen spots down the list.
  14. Life happens, but you're still here and can get back on the job anytime you want. We won't complain either way. There's something comforting knowing that you're still sharing in our misery, no matter how "far away."

  16. You can't really know if Tet McMillan has a higher ceiling than Higgins. You're speculating. That being said, I'd take my chances with your approach. It's going to come down to whether or not they think Carter is more valuable than McMillan. I couldn't say it, but I'm not in the FO.
  17. If someone's biggest wish is Robert Saleh, I wouldn't think they were crazy.
  18. I wouldn't say that we're ruined yet. Today was a bad loss (admittedly worse than usual due to the score), but who among us would've bet money that we would've won today with so many people out? Don't let today's showing affect your overall mindset. All is hopefully not lost, as there's still the possibility that we could become consistently competitive next season. We will be ruined if we have another meh draft. We need some obvious hits.
  19. The KISS approach would've been to draft Ladd. He was the more proven talent, albeit with a little bit of an injury history.
  20. Perhaps, but there were more than a few who said that his potential was super high as an MLB. It was really the off-field questions that held him back a little bit. But, even if I concede that you're 100 percent right, the more KISS approach would've been to not overthink it and pick Surtain.
  21. We're like 5 or something now. I'm just saying that Mason Graham and Tetairoa McMillan have to be in the discussion. Your wishlist is easily adoptable though. 2024 flew by. It seems like we were just discussing the draft. The FO may have shanked that one, but hope springs eternal.
