  1. I'm trying to limit myself to "just a fan". Helps me enjoy it all more.
  2. We got 3 guys I really wanted at positions we really needed help with that can help us out over the next chunk of years. We got a few more who could give us some positive production for a while in some areas. I loved it. I think it was a success. We weren't going to fix every area of need, but it all starts with a few and we got some. We got at least three starters in this group (maybe not immediate but it won't take long). And we got a few other who can be big time producers. What we did this weekend sets us up to be better this year and makes it easier to get the team where it needs to be next year. We made the draft next year easier to address remaining needs. I'm not going to micro-analyze this draft. I'm just looking at the big picture and we made the team significantly better in a few big areas. I give them an A.
  3. Have you not been paying attention? That's all they've done this draft.
  4. You didn't seriously think that was in the plans, did you?
  5. i think it put him on some people's radar. Might have put him seriously on ours, but I'm sure our scouts had been aware of him for a while before that. It was his chance to get noticed and get his tape looked at.
  6. His size can hold him back, but his scrappiness will keep him in it.
  7. Anyone that paid attention to the senior bowl would have heard of him.
  8. Could be. I think he could be good as a NB slot guy. He's one of those annoying turd corners that sticks with the WR and can't get free of him. Just when you think you're free of him he's there again. Athletic enough to stick with anyone. Hes going to make any target uncomfortable for the QB.
  9. I think I picked him to us a time or two. Not someone I was particularly looking for, but I didn't hate it. Read up on him at the time and he seemed scrappy enough which was why I had any interest in him at all.
  10. I know. Bar was set really low and just about any of the top 5 or so TEs (in what was considered a weak TE class) would have been an upgrade. I've just wanted him from the beginning. I figured we had no chance at Bowers so i never considered him part of this TE class. I guess my point is that I would finally feel good about TE adding him. I would like others, but I love this guy.
  11. Only from teams who stopped doing research. I think after the first two days I guess the figured " fug it we've done enough. Let's just go home"
  12. I'm hoping for Malik Washington and Sedrick Van Pran Granger the next couple picks. Sedrick was the OC I wanted from the beginning.
  13. Exactly. Malik is my favorite but there's a couple others who would fit in there just nicely.
  14. Center and Malik Washington. Then call it done.
  15. Oh that would be nice. I dreamed that would happen a couple nights ago. Him with Leggette, Sanders, and Brooks would be an incredible chunk of playmakers for the long haul.
  16. Wallace is really good in coverage. Lots of good instincts and natural talent to build on there.
  17. I think this has the potential to be like the Olsen/Shockey combo Cam had his rookie year.
  18. What's funny about this is that people have been arguing that we're still only looking at RAS scores and nothing has changed since Fitt.
  19. Best (non-Bowers) TE in this class. Will easily be the best we've had since Olsen. Huge target for Bryce.
  20. I think there's a few things they take into consideration (not exclusively or in order): 1) what he brings today 2) what he can bring tomorrow 3) is he coachable 4) does he have that dawg in him I do think that the greater focus and weight, though, needs to be and probably is on 2-4 of those. What they can bring day 1 is important, but you've got to have a longer view than that. We want day 1 starters (which is why I think some are pissed), but what's more important is that they are long term big time contributors. I think they took the long term view with Wallace, but I also think that we will see flashes of why he was taken when he was. Which is what we saw in a the other LBs we've taken and who have taken on dominant roles over the years. Thomas Davis was a frustrating (for fans) project initially because they couldn't decide whether he was going to be a safety or linebacker. Beason and Kuechly both started off on the outside. Point is, they didn't start off in the role that they were initially planned for ...and it was ok. They grew into those roles.
