will FAs want to come to Charlotte now?

Some will, but we will likely not get the talent we need to win a title in FA.  We have a lot of pieces but to get that elite star that is needed to make us a contender then FA is likely not where we will find it.  Small market teams needs to build a winner through the draft and trades.  Once you are a winner you can use FA to stay there but unless there is a hometown connection or something similar drawing a player there you will be hard pressed to get a big name FA to pick the mediocre small market team over the bright lights of the big city.

We should be able to attract some of the second tier big name free agents (eg. Rudy Gay, Gordon Hayward, Luol Deng etc). I'm not convinced we could attract a top tier guy like LeBron or Melo.

If we did grab one of the second tier guys, like we did with Jefferson. Then we could end up with a line up like:

PG: Kemba

SG: Hayward

SF: MKG

PF: McRoberts

C: Jefferson

PG: Kemba

SG: Henderson

SF: MKG or Thaddeus Young (trade our first for him?)

PF: Jefferson

C: Monroe

PG: Kemba

SG: Henderson

SF: Gay or Deng

PF: McRoberts

C: Jefferson

The options are there to improve the team. The team will need to go hard in free agency since we've decided not to go via the draft route any more.

I don't want Rudy Gay, at all.

Look how Toronto turned their season around once they traded him. As talented as he is, Gay just seems like a liability.

It is true that Toronto turned their season around once they traded him. But by getting rid of him that allowed Lowry and DeRozan to take the 1-2 scoring roles on the team. They became a lethal double act because of the increased role, and then they had a talented supporting cast. It was a surprise to see how good they became, but they did have a talented roster that should have been contending for a play off spot at the start of the season.

In regards to us, if it came down to a free agent SF I would rather see us sign Luol Deng. He brings defense and he's a relatively productive scorer averaging in the teens. But Rudy Gay is an explosive player and a scorer. In Sacramento's system he has been a productive player. He isn't an all star player, but he is one of those borderline guys [like Jefferson] that could have a positive impact on the team in Clifford's system. There were doubters on this board when we signed Jefferson, and despite concerns over his defense, he has been part of the reason we improved into one of the best units in regular season. It is possible that he could get the best out of Rudy Gay as well.

I want Greg Monroe. I front court of Al, Monroe, and Mkg would do work

Agreed, Greg Monroe has the ability to be one of the better centers in the league. He hasn't really taken a step forward this season, but with how dysfunctional the Pistons have been, he could do well on our team. Put him at center, Jefferson at power forward, and either MKG or a rookie at small forward, and I think we'd improve on our record this season.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
