Hopefully Sergio doesn't melt down like last year. I'd like to see a few guys fight until the end.

This tourney last year was probably my favorite to watch all year. Lots of drama. Sergio and tiger made it into a soap opera. I am pulling for Sergio though. He's due for a big win and the course seems to fit his eye.

The course seems a bit crusty this year.

Apparently the grounds crew couldn't handle the "harsh Florida winter" and mis-applied some product to help the greens grow. I watched some early coverage and they said that while the greens can look rough, the are still rolling true.

Yea I heard that. It's a shame. There are some courses down where I am at the coast that have had similar problems.

Any of you guys played the course over at Crowder's Mountain?

We are playing there Saturday.....I guess anything will be better than Renaissance

Hey Crowders is a nice little course.( it ain't the gaston country club thats for sure but you just starting out) They have a special during the week after 2pm I think it's $22

It's nice very scenic front nine is right below the mountain  got some buddies play it every friday .And you'll like it cause they have the tees up making it  very beginner friendly.

BTW if you can't swing around yours  how does Natlie Gulbis do it? lol tape them bad boys under your armpits and have at it.

Let me know how you liked it.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! I won't be too picky- like I said, as long as there isn't a dead rat on the course, it will be better than Renaissance was!

Also, I am playing in a golf tournament Monday at Pine Lake Country Club. Hope that's a decent course too, its a Captain's Choice anyways.

Spieth has that "it" factor. He's been real clutch for such a young player. If he wins it would be awesome for the sport. Golf needs those high profile players to keep the ticker moving.

I think Spieth is more mentally sound than McIlroy.  Rory is something of a mental midget. Spieth has potential to really be a star for the sport.

KJ Choi now on 6 consecutive birdies.

I agree. I think that Rory got wrapped up in his own head after signing his name on that $250 mil contract. He wasn't really tested on his two major wins either. The only time he got tested was the masters and he crumbled.

    • I am no football savant as has been demonstrated here over and over, but I saw it.  I went for years doing the mock draft thing and researching the players that we might get around our pick, time consuming stuff. And we would get to the draft and trade the pick. All that time, wasted.  So I quit doing that. Also realized I was not a scout and would never be a scout and went to looking the videos and reports After  we picked a guy.  Maybe I would look at the 1st round, but quit that too and just looked after we picked.    When they did that trade I saw Bryce and his size and just ruled him out. Then it got to yeah they are probably going to take him, I relented and looked at some video and got to his pro day. It took me all of a few minutes to see the issues. The footwork. The arm. And the tape of games? The backyard style. I knew, what can I say?  (Also, went down the physical checklist, not a single plus attribute on the NFL level. Arm, speed, size, etc, nothing to offset the negatives. nothing)  I think it was easy for me because I had not watched a single game he played in college, and wasn’t drawn in by the hype. Had no preconceived notions and just looked at it pretty clinically.  I got in here and everyone was going “but look at what he did in college! It is the SEC, if he can do it in the SEC he can do it in the NFL!” Couldn’t reason with hardly anyone.  I don’t think I could tell you which guy would succeed between two prototypical guys with great arms and athleticism, and have no special insight into any of that. My one calling in football scouting was to see the real about what we were about to do. And you still don’t know for sure until they get in a real game in the NFL.
    • Miss Bryce sorely is possibly the most hilarious statement I have read on the Huddle in quite some time.
    • He did only throw 1 pass 20+ in that game. I think he is still struggling to adjust to the NFL. At Alabama he was able to extend plays and play backyard football. That's not only not the style of offense we have been running but his physical skills don't lend themselves to that style of play at this level.  So, the amount of issues he actually has to clean up are WAAAAAY more than I anticipated as a guy that had Bryce #1 on my board in that draft class.  I am just not seeing a reasonable path for him to clean it all up and develop in a reasonable timeframe
