DID YOU SEE THAT?

You’d think after watching him every day for going on nine years, you’d stop being amazed by Steve Smith. I’m not. He routinely makes plays in practice that would lead SportsCenter if there were cameras rolling. Tuesday’s latest jaw-dropper was a reverse run, during which he made at least five cuts or stop-and-go moves. The last one left Julius Peppers (as nimble as anyone else on the roster) standing flat, as Smith cut inside and dashed upfield.

Smith has no fear on the field, and practices as hard as any player I’ve ever seen. NUMBER OF THE DAY: 10

Pounds lost by 290-pound DT Nick Hayden, so he could replace the 345-pound (give or take a few dozen) Kemoeatu. Unless you’re a behemoth, they want you quick in this system, so Hayden peeled off some weight before camp. SIDELINES

The camp’s gone twitter-crazy. DeAngelo Williams doesn’t do it, saying it was like “sending text messages to people you don’t know.” Coach John Fox has warned them not to write anything they’d regret, and to be smart. Otherwise, he doesn’t seem to care. It’s not his deal, but he’s not militant about it.

 @ the bolded comment

Wonder if people around here understand that twitter is just an addition to the camp coverage/write ups instead of a replacement? As soon as people get back, they write up what they see...but it's only been 2 damn days.

FYI to all: If you've gone to camp and have some info but are too shy to post it, just PM me or one of us and we'll get it out. Thanks in advance.

Stew is a pretty media/network savy dude.

He strikes me as a cat that would be making serious cash even if he wasn't in the NFL.

Social Networking is bringing him $$$'s with his record label I'm sure.

Agreed. One ring would seal the deal. But I think smitty could close out his career with 800 yard seasons and still be in contention. I think 3 more 1,000+ seasons and he's a first ballot HOFer

I don't think anyone who blind sides their own teammate and breaks that teammate's face in the process will ever be first ballot. He will get in but I doubt any assortment of stats will be able to make it a first ballot deal.

..sorry OP. I know, off topic

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
