An entire NFL Division overseas?

Sucks for the players who will be forced to become immigrants.

The question would be, how would the black players relate to the white audience whom they don't even share a commonality with. At least in the states they have the American thing in common. A lot of homesickness, bad performances and a terrible idea. Canada maybe, but Europe is too damn far. Not always about the money.

Where they would face major issues is free agency. Can't imagine a lot of big time FAs voluntarily signing to move oversea. It's hard enough dealing with certain Americans sometimes. lol

I think the nfl sees the success in multiculturalism in some of the soccer league and think that could work in football, which is made mostly of African American. Unbeknownst to them that not all situations are created equal. The Africans who participate in those soccer leagues are there in search of better opportunity so they'll deal with any vile racism from the audience. European sports events are known for that. Unlike the African Americans who will not stand for that. Can't imagine Sherman, for example, dealing with that. The racial dynamic has to be considered by the league else this will be an utter failure.

nfl will just up the cap for the teams over the pond; the states 133 million, yuck place 170 million. plus extra draft picks too, all sort of ways to help the balance.

it going to happen, nfl has already tapped out the market here in the states, i still remember per-pink thong for women/men. once the nfl opened the women and latino market, thats it. womans mech added anywhere form 3-10% on the over profit(which is a shiit ton when you make billions). that was a few years ago, no more growth. the beyond dumb breast cancer month is a money making cash cow, pink everything......... in business if you aint growing, you dying.

I know this sounds a bit dismissive but a lot of the issues mentioned in this forum have been addressed and handled already by other companies that have expats overseas.  Most of these come with compensation enhancements, additional expense consideration (housing, schooling for children, moving and repatriation,etc...)  There are probably collective bargaining considerations that need to be hashed out but I believe this can be overcome.

I think the really big issues are

1.  Cultural

2.  Scheduling

3.  Market Sustainability

I am not so sure I would like this but it is interesting to consider, especially in June when nothing else is going on.

once we have transporter technology we can have teams wherever humans can go.

When the scene begins, Badger and Skinny Pete are having an argument about the nature of the transporter technology used throughout the Trek universe. Badger prefers the conventional wisdom that the transporter is, well, a transporter, beaming human beings (and other species) from one place to another. Skinny Pete, however, has a more insidious theory. “The transporters are breakin’ you apart, man! Down to your molecules and bones! They’re makin’a copy! The dude comin’ out on the other side? That dude isn’t you. It’s a color Xerox.” Badger responds, stupefied: “So you’re tellin’ me that every time Kirk went into the transporter, he was killing himself? So over the whole series, there was 147 Kirks?” Essentially, Skinny Pete is putting forward the idea that every episode of Star Trek featured Kirk’s death and rebirth — and that, with each rebirth, Kirk became a xerox copy of yet another xerox copy, moving further and further away from the original Ur-Kirk.

Nazism and white supremacy is the culture of Europe right now. Exporting a 'black sport'(in Charles Barkley's words) there will not work. It's all fine and dandy when we visit there and play a game but taking permanent residency there is not ideal. Unless the NFL can create a successful team made mostly of locals. Which is as plausible as your team on the moon idea.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
