Panthers and Cowboys are teams to fear in the NFC!?!

Actually, Minnasota is the hottest team in the NFC right now winning 4 straight. If the Williams end up not having to serve any suspensions they could end up being a tough team to beat in the playoffs.

They're so Jekyll and Hyde though....I wouldn't be surprised if they won out or if they lost their last two to the Falcons and Giants.

True and I completely agree but that doesn't change the fact that they have the longest current winning streak in the NFC. If you are going to talk about teams peaking at the right time you can't leave them out, at least not this week.

I would actually drop the Cowboys and Jets lower than the Panthers and Cardinals.

Eh...the Cardinals are not that good. They play in a lackluster division, which they locked up at what....8-5? They can't play on the East coast and they were getting spanked 21-0 in the first fifteen minutes of the Vikings game.

IMHO:

1.) Giants: I still think they will get it done when it matters. With a healthy Jacobs, Manning's pass game will open back up. I won't believe they aren't the best team until they get spanked in the playoffs.

2.) Titans: Everyone was shocked at the Texans game, but people tend to forget they are actually an extremely potent offensive team and have some capable defensive players (Mario Williams). Andre Johnson is still a beast and if Schaub ever gets some consistently, they will be extremely tough.

3.) Panthers: What can I say? Delhomme seems to be slowly working out his kinks, but balls still tend to float on him, he seems to hold the ball for too long, and generally looks uncomfortable in a stable pocket much less a collapsing one. He needs to spread the ball around. Defense and run game are sick.

4.) Cowboys: I hesitated putting them here, but despite all their bullshit, I think they are an extremely talented team. Once they got over their sense of entitlement, they seemed to have buckled down for the long-haul.

5.) Jets: A little two-game stumble and a ground-out game against the 49ers doesn't affect them in my opinion. I believe they just went through what Carolina did during their Bye-Raiders-Lions stretch. With Leon Washington coming into his own and no-name receivers like Stucker making impact plays, I see the Jets holding on to their division.

6.) Steelers: I'm sure everyone will be shocked I put them at #6. I believe that their running game has begun to break down. Mewelde Moore is good, but as more tape of him is watched, his production will drop. Big Ben looks generally uncomfortable and has led his team to (I think) 6 games where they've won by 3 or less points. That won't cut it in the playoffs.

I still say the Cowboys don't make it. Ravens will put Romo on his ass next week, and put talk of "America's Team" to rest.

Yea, after playing as good as they did sunday, and then having the refs hand the game over, that Ravens D is gona be ready to rip someones head off Saturday in dallas.

I dont think dallas will win week 17 either, esp if Philly wins this coming week and are still in the playoff hunt.

Like Always Dallas is Americas Team, blah blah, they are horrible, so they beat a team last night that is beaten with injuries and prison, who cares... The cowgirls still have two games left, they can only get a wildcard which means they are on teh road throughout, and they suck on the road, maybe one day america will get off the nuts of cowgirls... They haven't won a playoff game in ten years what makes you think they will anytime soon?

Actually, it's 12 years. But who's counting???

Oh yeah, all of us Cowgirl haters.

    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
    • Football is not the professional sport where timidness and apprehension are justly rewarded.
    • Bryce Young had a super high floor definitely at least won't be a bust safe pick we allegedly had seen in some time.......and went on to have one of the worst rookie seasons of all time.  They are all lotto picks.  And that is especially true for whatever they will be day 1 in the NFL.  I don't think Tmac is a sure thing year 1.  It's not like we watched him do his thing in the SEC.  He was a PAC12 guy.  I'm sure it will take time
