Cam ranked smack dab in the middle of QBs according to some league insiders

Peyton is one of a kind.  The greatest football mind to ever play the qb position.   He is probably the only stationary qb that could have made our Oline look better than it was..made our WRs look better than they are.    He scans the field,  finds the open receiver in the time it takes all other qbs to just drop back.

Cam is a gunslinger.  He will have some plays that make you facepalm,  and he'll have some plays that make you think he's the best player in the history of football.                      I love the gunslinger style.     Peyton is amazing,  but I honestly preferred watching Favre instead of Peyton.  Favre is the epitome of the gunslinger style.

Dan Marino was like that.  Marino hardly ever took a sack because by the time anybody got within a step of him the ball was already on its way downfield.

And yes, that's Newton to a tee, and I agree it's more exciting to watch.

It's funny honestly because through the whole Delhomme era loads of people hated the 'gunslinger' persona and pined for a franchise quarterback in the mold of Peyton or Brady.  Now we finally get a franchise quarterback and it's another gunslinger

I guess we're just destined to forever be the Cardiac Cats.  And I'm fine with that.  It might take a few years off my life, but the ones I get to keep will be great years B)

I think a lot of people are really just scared of what Cam could be if he lives up to his potential. 1 year of college in a gimmick offense and 3 years in the pros. Hes pretty much, developmental-wise, a senior coming out. The sky is the limit for him.

Tell ya what I consider the best reason to be positive about Cam's future.

His first two seasons, Newton put up mindblowing stats.  Unfortunately, he did that as a quarterback who'd start off like a house on fire then fade as games went along.  That's an easy way to end up with a great looking stat line and a so-so win-loss record.

Not last year though.  In year three, Newton went from being an early flash to being a steady, solid QB who was capable of finishing strong.  The result: A year that might not have blown the stat mavens away like his first two did, but still produced solid numbers and a vastly improved win-loss record :D

Mind you, Newton's improvement isn't the only reason the win tally was higher (significantly improved defense definitely helped) but it's a pretty big part of it, and a huge reason to look forward to coming seasons with optimism.

    • I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.
    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
