Preseason 2014

Starts today.

Post your team observations.

I'm watching Arsenal second squad playing against some 3rd tier division team. Their away jersey actually look pretty good. Can't really judge right now because most of these players will go out on loan in next few weeks.

Arsenal playing NY Red Bulls next week. Should see Alexis and Debuchy for the first time.

We're up at 4:00 against Seattle. Should be a good game and an excellent chance to see how we've progressed so far this off-season, as the Sounders aren't a slouch team at all. Will be strange to see Demps playing against us though for the first time since he left. Can't wait!

COYS!!!

Watched Barcelona's B team yesterday because I work with a guy who's cousins with Alen Halilovic. Had some solid touches but nothing spectacular. Kid is 17 though, and you can definitely see potential.

Holtby better not go out on loan again.. that kid has tons of pace, and works the box to box extremely well. He has some focus issues sometimes, but his upside is far greater than his down.

He looked like a perfect fit in Poch's system.

    • I just don't think some guys have it. Darnold has the panic gene. I don't think there's any fixing it. He looks really good as long as the play develops as drawn up or if he gets pressured immediately and has to go to his check down right away. It's when he has decent protection and his first read isn't open and he's standing back there in the pocket with that panic slowly building. That's when he does disastrous poo.
    • based on the QBs drafted #1 comparison thread, he’s right where he should be. if your expectations were to have a rookie lead us to the playoffs without an OL and WR corps, maybe your expectations were a bit off.
    • at some point, though, you just have to suck it up and accept it and deal with the bad deal you got.  you go through funks where you keep making mistakes and hope that you get it figured out sometime soon, but in the learning process you realize you could have done some things better but you're stuck with decisions you make. you have two choices...whine about it or just brush it off and hope can make the situation you put yourself work. i know a lot of people in here have probably never experienced or dealt with failure much in their lives, but i have and i learned to just suck it up and try to make the best of the situation you've got yourself in because you realize that you're stuck with it for a while. doesn't do any good to keep harping over what you wish you had done better. you already know that. now it's just about moving forward from here and making the best of it and hoping you can make something of it. it's the easiest thing in the world to look at where Bryce falls short...and yes, that was intentional. everyone knows that and all that is done is beating that horse laying on the ground. what takes some work is trying to see how it can work and if they have done and are doing things to help the situation get better.
