East Coast Trip

Don't post here much lads but would be grateful for any help.

I'm heading across to the East Coast of the US for a few weeks next year (hopefully) starting in New York, heading to Maryland, in to Nashville then on to North Carolina (likely) Charlotte. Anybody have any suggestions on what to do?

I really want to catch a Panthers game but with the schedule not being released until March(?) things will be too expensive to book then.

Any suggestions on things to do would be great.

NYC - there are too many things to do. Depends on how many days you want to spend. A week can't even do it justice.

MD - Baltimore? Uh ... get shot while going to a Ravens game? Orioles? Or ... Annapolis to see Naval boats or something? Eat some crab cakes? I'd advise you go to DC instead. I mean ... it's like, right there.

Nashville - Eat some of "their" BBQ, catch some live music, see the Titans play, look dumb in cowboy boots. Try and hook up to the Tail of the Dragon on your way into NC.

Charlotte - Panthers or Hornets or Knights, the White Water Center if in the summer, Plaza Midwood to poke hipsters.

Think NYC will be the biggest chunk so yeah will do all the touristy stuff there.

I'm going with a buddy and he has family somewhere in Maryland so wants to stop off there for a bit. I'm sure it was Maryland, hopefully I've messed up my geography and it was DC.

Nashville - again my buddy wants to go to some country festival (think its in June) so looks like will catch some live music.

White Water Center? Take it that's like rafting and stuff?

The trick to NYC is to NOT do the touristy stuff. I can make you a list of what you really want to see.

And yeah, I think the WWC is still there. Charlotte guys? Is it? It's a man made rapids course with some pretty serious waves. They have competitions there. I did it once with people from work. Fun times.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
