Another Dwayne Jarrett Article

Guys like Drew Carter and Kerry Colbert were kept during their rookie contract but were were not offered a new one. They were only valuable because they were cheap. Jarrett signed a 4 year 3.85 million contract which was relatively cheap. This is his third year. Unless he is a total bust he will likely make it through his contract. But he won't be a Panther once it gets more expensive to keep him. Plus if we need his roster spot we could let him go prematurely like we did with Hackett. Particularly if guys like Moore, Carter and Robinson do better.

He really hasn't been given a lot of opportunities. He did make the most out of what little time he saw on the field last season.

Yeah, it sort of bugs me whenever people bag on Jarrett, because truthfully, his lack of production isn't really his fault but a product of our run heavy offense and Jake's inability to find any reciever not named Steve or Muhsin.

I expect him to get more passes this year though. Jake finally seemed to start targeting Jarret more after midseason.

    • New season new teams. Everyone we face has improved their team as well. There's now a full season of tape on Canales's offense and Bryce running it. When they win 7 games I will become a believer.
    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
