Smith: "I ran around those boys like they were schoolyard kids"

Just saw the actual interview on the local news up here.

This was taken out of context.

He started out by saying he was 35 years old. Then he said he was running around the guys like they were school yard kids.

IMO, he was just saying even though he was 35 he feels young and still has the joy of the game. It didn't sound like a dig on the Panthers at all when you watch it on television as much as it reads that way. Sometimes context is everything.

Steve Smith is a disgruntled former employee. That's the funny part. Smith wanted to stay in Charlotte forever. Even Peyton M got the axe at some point. Come on man, grow up & shut up for Gods sake Smith. The sad part is that he busted out for a few TD's. He's still got step. Yeah we always knew that. It's HIS MOUTH that I never could stand. Every time he caught a ball & got a first down he seemed like he did a TD dance & acted like a fool after the catch. My God son, act like you been there before. Be a professional. U didn't see the great receivers in NFL history doing that crap. I'm glad Smith is gone.

everybody knows he doesn't play for the Panthers anymore. I just dont why people act like we have to hate him ignore everything thing he's done here. He's not just another player. I thought I could expect better from you. That's almost trolling saying that. I wonder if 9er fans said Joe Montana or Jerry rice is just another player after they went to other teams. Steve plays for the ravens, we know. Not happy he torched us today that's for Damn sure, but don't act like it was Crabtree or Jimmy Graham or some some poo. Fug the world and fug u dollar tree Dave for paying Steve Smith to torch us today.

expect better from me? i think it's a pretty reasonable outlook on the situatikn and one i've always held. i am a panthers fan, not a player fan. if a player plays against us, they are the enemy and i want them to fail and feel pain and i get pissed when they, just like any other player, succeed against us. if they run their mouths about it before and/or after i get even more pissed. i don't care how they got there. if they don't have a jersey, they're just another player on another team. if/when he retires a panther, my thoughts regarding him will change, but for now he's a big mouthed midget that talked poo about my team and we let him walk all over us. i'm pissed at him and the team right now.

btw, i even had this attitude with kasay. i don't care if it's not the standard you or anyone else has for themselves, it's my point of view and i think it's a legit one.

    • You're correct (on its face). But PFF does indeed use advanced stats to come up with their grades. Not trying to turn this into a debate about PFF (at all because it's been done ad nauseum), but here is how PFF explains it:   GRADES VS. STATS We aren’t grading players based on the yardage they rack up or the stats they collect. Statistics can be indicative of performance but don’t tell the whole story and can often lie badly. Quarterbacks can throw the ball straight to defenders but if the ball is dropped, you won't see it on the stat sheet. Conversely, they can dump the ball off on a sequence of screen passes and end up with a gaudy looking stat line if those skill position players do enough work after the catch. PFF grades the play, not its result, so the quarterback that throws the ball to defenders will be downgraded whether the defender catches the ball to notch the interception on the stat sheet or not. No amount of broken tackles and yards after the catch from a bubble screen will earn a quarterback a better grade, even though his passing stats may be getting padded. The same is true for most positions. Statistics can be misleading. A tackle whose quarterback gets the ball out of his hands quicker than anybody else may not give up many sacks, but he can still be beaten often and earn a poor grade. Receivers that are targeted relentlessly could post big-time numbers but may offer little more than the product of a volume-based aerial attack. https://www.pff.com/grades So PFF uses stats to come up with player grades and rankings.
