Bad Hurney Contracts: Who's Left?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Considering the current state of our OL, if you cut your center who is considered one of the best in the league, that's pretty much sending the message to your QB that you really don't give much of a poo about his health. Gettleman may be a bit ruthless, but he isn't a moron.

Not accurate in the least.

What if you get CJ, DWill, Stew, Kalil, and Godfrey off the books, get a burner with hands, a no. 1 CB, a new G, and two T's?

What message would that send?

Hmm, would you care to explain further how that's not accurate given our current OL situation?

We've shown very little ability thus far to build an OL around Cam, and half of our starters/backups are undrafted, so yeah it's a problem. It isn't just about letting Kalil go, any GM can simply cut a player. But who will replace that player, and how good will that player be?

Obviously it's easy to simply talk about replacing players on a message board, but it's an entirely different thing to actually have to go about finding that viable replacement successfully. As our draft history has shown, it's also absolutely no guarantee that will happen.

It's called freeing up cap space enough to sign average to above average OLinmen, while also making it a priority in the draft.

We haven't tried to build an O Line around Cam, have not been in the position to do so, until after this season.

There's no guarantee these above average OL will be available for the price that you think is cheap.

We can start by getting a real left tackle. Kalil isn't the problem. The rest of the OL is.

Also, if you admit yourself that we "haven't tried to build an OL around Cam", yet still casually suggest that we cut the only player on the OL worth a damn, who is also the most important, well, I don't know exactly what the hell you are arguing with me about this for to begin with.

I think he was implying you don't remove Kalil and keep the status quo. Would have to be part of a major overhaul. If it was....then what would that show Cam?

We put little effort into our OL and secondary. Discount shopping and hoping for diamonds. Turner is the first legit investment in the OL in a few years. Secondary has turned into the new WR position....we don't give a poo. That NYG model requires a great deal of luck and things falling your way. Can't just have a D that works on front 4 pressure and expect to be anything but a hit or miss. Not worth the day and night difference when it doesn't hit home

Because you don't understand how the Cap works, and made the yellowbellied response to the above posters about Cam quitting on this team because we had to cut his Center for the betterment of the team.

DG is building from the middle/inside out, and it's a strategy that works in the long term, but not always in the short.

We will get there, unfortunately, he may decide to start again with the DLine vs. OLine, but I hope not.

I didn't say anything about him quitting on the team.

Which of the two of us is a legitimate NFL cap guru again? Oh yeah, neither, so you can stop tooting your own horn right now pal.

Also, cutting players on our OL who are not part of the problem with our offense is not "for the betterment of the team".

I see that we really have no use conversing with each other anymore, so I'll just leave it at this. Good day.

At this point, not even he knows what he is implying anymore.

Anyways, yes we have certainly neglected the secondary as well, but I think we could get by if our OL was even halfway decent. It is not.

NYG model on D built inconstant teams IMO. They were constantly knocked on their approach. They won rings but they weren't really one of the better teams in the NFL over that stretch IMO.

Sometimes being lucky and catching the right people at the right time is a bigger deal than people acknowledge.

Gettlemen's masterplan is something that has always made me nervous and why I wasnt a huge fan day 1.

He has grown on me though. Didn't like the way he entered this season though.....that he we downgraded at too many spots. Didn't improve anywhere but one position group

I will converse with you, but you forget what you post faster than I can hit reply.

What exactly did you mean by "help Cam pack his bags" if that doesn't mean leaving the team?

This issue with you, is you don't think the Cap matters.  It didn't to the last regime, and that's why we were never consistent contenders.  Gettleman want's us to get there, but if he took your route, it's the same as the previous one.  We didn't have the money to overpay for Gross, Smitty, FA tackles, Capt, Mike Mitchell, etc....but you just keep right on beating that drum.
