Egg Drop Challenge Help Needed

Well mission complete. The first one busted into pieces on the test run but what was left intact was the base. Then it hit me to create two bases and attach them using 2 rubber bands with the egg in the middle. Virgin Galactic should be calling with a job offer at any moment. Thanks for all the great (and not so great) ideas!

Glad you asked - 144 kids participated and she was one of 7 who's egg did not break and 4 of those used an unapproved building material. They dropped it from the top of a firetruck ladder. She was ecstatic so thanks for the help everyone.
