BOSTON (Reuters) - Tom Magliozzi, co-host of the long-running weekly National Public Radio show "Car Talk," died on Monday of complications from Alzheimer's disease, the broadcast network said. He was 77.

Magliozzi and his younger brother Ray became famous as the self-deprecating radio mechanics "Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers" on their popular weekend call-in program, sharing jokes, banter and automobile advice.

The program, which was taped at Boston public radio affiliate WBUR, has continued to air in re-runs following the pair's retirement two years ago after more than three decades on the air.

One of the best shows ever on NPR.

I was in the Boston area once, had some time to kill, made it over to Cambridge. I had been hitting some bars throughout the day and when I was in Cambridge I laid on a bench and kinda took a nap.  There was lots going on around me, campus stuff, and I opened my eyes and looked across the street at a building. On the second floor center window, kinda small, was:

Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe, Attys.

I sat up straight, "holy crap the tappet brothers!"

My kinda-sorta brush with celebrities I guess.

yeah I know cool story bro

Made famous by the brothers Magliozzi.

It is a cool story.

I remember their mailing address was Cambridge so I figure I saw their studio or office or whatever.
