Midseason Mock Draft

Projected draft pick: 8.  I say we win like 2 maybe 3 more games this year.

1st round.  Cedric Ogbuhei.  OT. Texas A&M.

Isn't it obvious?  We have the worst pair of offensive tackles in NFL history.  Day 1 starter and instant upgrade.

Round 2. Ameer Abdullah.  RB. Nebraska.

Best running back in the country. Him and Stewart could be a solid combo.

Round 3. Justin Hardy.  WR.  ECU

WOuld be dope to pair with Kelvin.  Solid speed, reliable target.

Round 4.  Pharaoh Brown.  TE.  Oregon

Another weapon for Cam.. Brown isn't a very good blocker but he's a serious threat as a receiver.

Round 5.  Za'Darius Smith.  DE.  Kentucky.

Pass rush is a need.  Good chance this is CJ's last season in Carolina.

Round 6.  Kyshoen Jarrett.  S. Virginia Tech

Kyshoen+Jarrett+Virginia+Tech+v+Alabama+

Safety help obviously needed.

Round 7.  Matt Miller.  WR. Boise State.

Pretty big possession WR who was having a good season until he suffered an injury that could take a toll on his draft stock.

Fire Rivera.  Hire Gus Malzahn.  Would be so sick.  Run two TE sets on offense with no huddle, up tempo

Like Ogbuehi too. But no CB? No DB in the first 5 rounds? Only one OL?

Josh Norman and Bene Benwikere are showing signs of potential.  Plus we'll have money to work with to find some secondary upgrades.  I just really want to see us spend a draft primarily focused around Cam, even if it isn't always BPA.  poo, if we want him long term we may have to do something like this.

remember how dangerous Cam was with Olsen and Shockey? Why we haven't found another legit receiving TE since Shockey is beyond me

That's more so Shula than current talent. I think Dickson could fill that role but Shula doesn't have a hot clue how to effectively use both TE's. Chud was good at that.

    • https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/versatile-2nd-db-named-panthers-154026075.html Smith-Wade's ability to play corner, nickel and safety makes him valuable to a young defense trying to rebuild after finishing last in the NFL a year ago. "Chau took advantage of an opportunity,'' coach Dave Canales said. "He made tackles. He had an opportunity on an interception, and he made it.'' Our defense has got to come alive for us to have a chance of winning our Division!
    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
