Seahawk DT Jordan Hill out

Of course our offense is going to struggle more against better Ds like Carolina. I don't doubt that for a second. I was referring more to the average output.

And I agree that it's really unlikely that the winning team scores 20+ without the help of turnovers.

I guess you can call me whatever you like. That line wasn't intended as a swipe at your squad, but just pointing out how well Seattle's D has been playing over the last 6 games. Seriously, 5 of the last 6 games have ended with the opponent having a single digit in their score column. The Eagles got to 14 in part because our punter derped and gave them the ball on a very short field.

And anyhow, if you can point to the last 3 games between our teams as evidence, I can do the same. That 10-point barrier is one your team hasn't broken in 2 of those 3 games, and in the 3rd, it took a pick six by Captain Munnerlyn and an intentional safety for your guys to reach 12.

So yeah, if it makes me a douchebag to have confidence in my team in this upcoming game based on how they've played for the last month and a half AND based on the scores of the games our teams have played against each other the last 3 seasons, then I guess I plead guilty.

It's okay Mark Brunell...I don't think you are a d bag

The Herald (the newspaper for a city 25 miles north of Seattle) calls losing Hill "a big blow."

Dec 30:

"An even bigger blow would be losing Hill, a second-year player whose late-season emergence has been a big boost to Seattle's defense.

The Seahawks drafted Hill in the third round of the 2013 draft hoping he could provide an interior pass rush, and were high enough on his ability that they released Clinton McDonald prior to the season. But when an injury sidelined Hill, McDonald was re-signed

...

this year, Hill has come up huge of late, with 5.5 sacks over the past six games — the same total McDonald had last year — as well as a game-turning interception in Sunday's NFC West clinching victory over the Rams.

In short, Hill has finally developed into the player the Seahawks hoped he could be, and perhaps more, so losing him now would be a big blow if he isn't able to make it back."

Same could be said for the Seahawks.

Our run D has been nasty the past 6 games.

Not to mention that you played us during the time earlier in the season when every team was gashing us in the run game....and we STILL held Lynch to 62 yds rushing.  We also held him to 43 yards last year.

Given our ability to stop Lynch recently and Wilson's anemic passing the past 6 home games (2 TD and 5 Int).....do not expect your offense to be putting up many points.

Keep telling yourself that you are anything other than a pedestrian offense if it makes you feel better....but you are not.

Last 6 home games....3 games with 1 offensive TD and 2 games with 2 offensive TD's

Take a look at the top ten offensive rankings in the league again....see a familiar name up there??  Yeah, the Hawks are there.  As for a lack of offensive TD's at home and more INT's - there really is a lot less to this than you guys are making of it......if Wilson had needed to pass it for a TD in those games, he easily could have done that - Marshawn Lynch and the defense haven't given him the opportunity to throw for much in home games this year.  I honestly don't see it as an issue and have no qualms about him if we should need him to drive the ball to get us a win.

Hill was SEA's sack leader over the last 6 games with his 5.5 sacks (next best were LB Bruce Irvin with 3.5 and DEs Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril with 3.0 each)

Hill accounted for 37.9% of the sacks by the SEA DL over the last 6 games and 22.9% of SEA's total sacks over the last 6 games

I'm sad to have lost Jordan Hill, as he has really come on lately....but you Panther fans aren't aware of how he has been collecting a lot of those sacks....Most of them have been generated as a result of QB's being pressured by Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril who are forcing the QB's to either step up or bail on the pocket.  It wasn't so much from the pressure that Hill was generating himself.  It may be that his replacement(s) aren't able to have the same level of success at finishing the plays in the same way that Hill was but it has been pressure by Avril and Bennett that have led to most of Hill's sacks.

SEA has gone from a 4 DT rotation down to 3 when they loss Mebane. Now they are down to two:

DT Kevin Williams

DT Tony McDaniel

DT Jordan Hill - OUT

DT Brandon Mebane - OUT

filling in for Hill with be DE Demarcus Dobbs who played only 98 snaps this season (78 of them with the 49ers)

comments from a Seahawks forum:

-We're down to a three man interior rotation with Williams, Hill and McDaniel.

-We only have McDaniel and Williams if Hill can't go. No DT's listed on the practice squad either, though I could swear I heard something about Staten recently. What's the alternative? Give Bennett more inside reps and Tukuafu more snaps at DE?

-Did you catch the play of our fullback playing DT last week? ... If it came down to it, I wouldn't be concerned about him being used more often at DT.

-Hill would a big loss

-Hill would be a huge loss. Hope he can heal fast.

-We need Hill.

-Hill is NEEDED.

(news breaks Hill is officially out)

-GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #$%^&*(*%^&

-this is big. Interior pressure is one of the most important aspects on how the Seahawks build a successful D.

-Wow...............this is a brutal loss, we actually had a consistent interior push with him in. This sucks.............gonna be very hard to replace his production.

-Jordan Hill being out worries me

-I'm especially worried about Hill being out

-This Hill business is getting way out of control on people's fear meters. The team will execute without him just fine against Carolina.

-This hurts pretty bad. Get well, Jordan.

-yup thats a big loss. As much as we point to Wags getting back or kam getting healthy. The start of our defenses epic run was when Hill started playing out of his mind.... big loss.

-This royally sucks for him and us.

-so much for the few guys on here saying Mebane was now expendable.

-That really sucks about Hill.

-This is a pretty big blow ... huge. He's definitely filled that Clinton McDonald role that we were really missing early in the year.

-Worried about D-Line...the Jordan Hill injury worries me quite a bit. First they lose Mebane vs the run. ... Hill has been playing great vs the pass and filling the void left by Clint McDonald leaving. Who will step up in the Jordan Hill role?

-IMO, moving Bennett inside is the best option. He can be a disruptor on the inside, he's done it before.
