Realistically, what is the future of Shula?

Sigh...  That was the fourth time, in a single thread, where your reply was twisted to whatever agenda you have.  It was very clear what my position was.  I shouldn't have to draw up an outline, although I will, when you can easily press a button and go back to the conversations being quoted, and figure out for yourself what the point was.

MCC was clearly questioning why they would replace KB on certain plays, then gave an example of 3rd and 10 in the red zone.  To which you replied, that he may need rest, and "Which receiver plays on every play??"  Condescending reply, and not what he was meaning, but whatever.  To which he replies that he understands that they need rest sometimes, but on crucial plays, such as the one he mentions, there's no reason for KB to not be on the field(can't disagree with that).  Your reply?  "Do you think they took KB out on purpose so they would not make a good play?  You guys act as if they are doing things to screw up on purpose."  Wow, again, condescending.  Not even close to what he was trying to say.

So far, this is pretty easy to follow.

I replied that I didn't think they took him out to "screw up on purpose," however, it's stupid not to have KB in the game, when in a situation like the one MCC mentions.  I didn't imply anywhere in there that Shula was at fault for the pick 6, and like I said, it would take a complete moron to think that...  I even said, "yeah, it was Cam's fault for throwing a bad pass."  Then I followed up by stating that if KB were in the game, in that crucial situation, the chances of having to make so many reads are minimized.  Bersin can't beat the press, KB can.  Bersin isn't getting separation with his size alone, KB is.  KB must be in the game, in certain situations, tired or not.

That was the whole freaking point to that string of conversation, yet in each reply you post, you say some condescending crap, that has little(mostly nothing) to do with what's being talked about.  There's not always some secret message within someone's statements.

Perhaps the perpetual bashing of the coaches while the players get a total pass most of the time has jaded me to see things that may not be there or are intended.  If I painted you with the same brush then I apologize.  The season is over and I guess that it is time to move on.

Do I think that you and other posters nit pick and always looking for the negative?  absolutely.  Do I think that you are being objective and don't have your own agenda.  Yes to the agenda, no to being objective.  So when people criticize Shula or Rivera for KB not being in there, it appears they are saying that regardless of circumstances he needs to be in there and honestly that doesn't happen unless the team is willing to take a time out to give him rest. Receivers run all the time and can't sustain that effort play in and play out and need breaks. If you keep them in when they are tired, they take breaks on plays on the field rather than going all out.  So they rest one way or the other.  So It would be nice to have KB in there all the time but it isn't realistic and doesn't happen with most every receiver.  So it is not stupid to rest him, it is what every coach does after, for example, a receiver has run 4 or 5 routes in a row or had to block downfield on several plays.  So to say it is stupid assumes that he should have known better or somehow a good coach wouldn't do the same. And in my opinion that is just false.  KB hit the rookie wall like most guys do and needed more breaks. The fact we had no decent replacements but Bersin is a Gettleman problem not a coaching one.

What you call condescending I say is pointing their extreme position and their fallacies of thinking and obvious unrealistic expectations.  And yes there is always more behind what a person says besides the obvious.  I make a living divining exactly what that is, even when the people saying it don't know it at the time. Everyone has their agendas which they think are not obvious which scream out to those of us who are attuned to listen or hear it. So we will disagree about that as well.

Okay, I get it now.  So your profession causes you to delve into the deeper meaning of what someone is trying to get across.  Fair enough, I can respect that.

I didn't see his questions/responses going that route, but maybe they were.  I wasn't headed in that direction either, or trying to anyway.  However, I don't agree with some of the decisions that are made.  That's not me trying to place all blame on the coaches.  I do feel it's a bad idea to not have KB in the game, in the situation presented, because he is much more effective in that situation.  I completely understand those guys need to be rested, but feel he's a better option, even when tired.  Bersin was completely outclassed, and manhandled, when in for KB that night.  In that red zone situation, he was the first read, and was essentially playing patty cake with the CB, trying to get off of the press.  KB doesn't have that problem due to his physical stature, and he's just a much better receiver.  I wasn't trying to imply that the coaches want them to fail, or it's their fault Cam threw an INT.  In the end, it was Cam's decision that caused it, and he has to make the best of the personnel presented to him, even if I feel it's not the best choice of personnel.

    • Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers know what’s on the line, but they also knew last week, too. It’ll be close; I just have trouble trusting a positive outcome after a defeating one on the road. Zietlow: Panthers 38, Bucs 35. This prediction goes against conventional wisdom, but then again, conventional wisdom doesn’t seem to apply to these Panthers. This group, after all, has yet to lose back-to-back contests since Weeks 1 and 2. I think they win this one to make Week 18 interesting — and yes, that’s even with motivated Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans in good form. Why not?
    • Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.
    • Willis was impressive last night given the circumstances. GB and SF seem to just have it figured out as far as QB goes.   It's frustrating, but I enjoy seeing our old players find success elsewhere.
