Is a staff change out of the realm of possibility now?

its a damn shame a man that has never in his career had a good offense gets to keep his job.

It depends on your definition of good. Your offense has to fit your philosophy and will be as good as the talent you have on that side of the ball. We spent a ton more on our defense compared to the offense so obviously we are going to emphasize defense over offense as that is where we put our money. So a good offense can be one that maximizes the efficiency of the defense while still scoring points over what we are surrendering so we end up with more wins than losses. But it likely won't look like a NO, GB or Denver offense and we won't spend the money they will either. We have been gifted with good drafting which allows us to keep costs low on rookies and UDFAs as long as the offensive staff can develop them. Seems to me that is the value of the staff and of Shula. They are good teachers and developers of talent. Something you need with a young team. Shula is getting better in my mind like his willingness to let Newton call more no huddle and pass where we used to run all the time. I think he fits for where we are right now. Who knows if that will be the same in a few years. We have had other OCs and will after Shula. For me it is whether he fits for what we need in a coordinator right now. We could do better I suspect, but as long as Cam and Shula keep improving, I am still ok with it although not thrilled. I want to Newton stop making mistakes throwing picks trying to do too much and take the check downs and underneath guys that hopefully we upgrade with more speed. A guy like Sproles makes a whole bunch of quarterbacks look very good and becomes a first option instead of play of last resort.

I have no idea how someone can rationalize making a change on ST. We've been schematically poor there for a number of years now and bailed out only by the fact that we've had a number of aces and great specialists there to mask how bad we were. This year we lost that and we were completely exposed.

Can not believe that late meaningless end of season push has saved Shula's job. Unbelievable.

What is unbelievble is thinking the late season push is meaningless.  Making the playoffs and winning a playoff game is a first for Cam and everyone on the team who were not here in 2005 which is most everybody.  But it is invaluable for the rookies and young players who know what it takes to win a playoff game at home and what more it will take to win a playoff game against a team like Seattle.

That push was due to the rookies gaining enough experience to start and for the o line to gel and come together.  That is not only very meaningful but sets the table for 2015 and beyond as long as Gettleman doesn't reshuffle the deck too much.

Any panther fans not filled with dislike for Shula should be able to  see that.
