Panthers to continue holding training camp at Wofford

Obviously, I'm quite happy. People don't understand that NFL teams aren't going to go "anywhere" to hold training camp. There are some very specific criteria that need to be met in terms of field quality, facility quality, etc. People assume, too, that holding training camp at Wofford is a given because Mr. Richardson is an alumnus and great supporter. It's simply not true. If we didn't have the appropriate facilities and the kind of services they need, we wouldn't be the host.

One of the major considerations for the team, too, is that being a two-state team, holding training camp in South Carolina is important since the games are played in North Carolina.

Still, with the trend of teams staying at home for training camp - for financial and other reasons - there was always the possibility the Panthers would decide to do that as well. We are pleased they didn't and have made a multi-year commitment to Wofford. It means a lot to the college as well as the community.

As for those who don't like Spartanburg, maybe you haven't explored here much or haven't recently. We have lots to offer, and I'm happy to provide information on places to stay, places to eat and drink, etc. It's been a while, but I used to write up a good "guide to Spartanburg" for those attending camp. Maybe I'll revive that when we get closer to July.

And, as Jeremy said, training camp in Spartanburg is an extremely fan-friendly experience. The Panthers are committed to that wholeheartedly. Y'all come and find out for yourselves.

The Panthers really need to work on marketing to South Carolina tho, places like Charlieston have like 5% Panthers fans.

The Bobcats would hold exhibition games in North Charleston.

The only Panther marketing I ever saw was Jonathen Stewart came to Kmart in Ladson SC a few years ago...that likely wasn't the Panthers that set it up though.
