Summer Vacation Out West

Rather than hosting all the family down at the coast this summer, the wife and I are headed west. We're flying out to Vegas, stay a night, fly up to a camp and helicopter into the Grand Canyon to raft the Colorado for 4 days thru the GC.

I've been to the Grand Canyon several times and hiked from the South Rim down to the river once, but this is going to be very cool camping alongside the river every night and rafting 30 miles a day. Must be a whole different perspective from the bottom of the canyon. 

 

Can't wait. Anyone here ever done this?

Exactly.... why I'm going out west, not down to Georgia or Alabama...lol

When you go white water rafting there is 100% exciting river. 120 miles of river means a lot of work I think and a lot of boring time. I'm not a big out doorsman though

There are several stops during the course of each day to hike, swim or see the cliff-side residences of the Indians who lived in the Canyon long ago. 

 

Both of us have whitewater rafting experience from when we lived in Asheville for 3 years and I'm enjoying being back in the gym 4 times a week to lose a little weight, get some flexibility back and increase my strength.
