Stew and Beason both practicing today.

I hope we really were holding everything back, and that when the season starts our defense will crush people, and they will be able to tackle.

I'm pretty excited about idea that Fox/Meeks could have been literally holding everything back.

At any rate its great to have all the non IR guys back.

From PFT

The Carolina Panthers released their first injury report Wednesday, and it surprisingly didn't contain Jonathan Stewart or linebacker Jon Beason. Stewart and Beason returned to full practices, and their status for Week One isn't in doubt.

Stewart missed virtually all of training camp with a sore Achilles, a plan recommended by Carolina's medical staff.

"We just didn't want it to be a month during the regular season," coach John Fox said. "The good news is it was a month during the preseason. That was the plan, and if we had our druthers that is the way we'd prefer it. . . . I thought [the medical staff] handled it right, and he was out practicing today."

And to think that the overall vibe here over the past week has been "IR for Stewart?". I'm glad he's back, but I hope he eases into his workload. That could mean that we might see more of Goodson that we normally would have. That would be a plus for the offense, IMO.

    • Right and I think we can have a conversation about that. But even with the scheme he should still be able to muster more than 1.5 sacks right? I mean DJ Johnson played in Evero's scheme too but that didn't stop us from calling him a bust. Scourton didn't seem to have trouble flashing. There can be different things true at one time.
    • I assume you are quoting my still. If so, I don't know what your argument is since mine was simply showing a play where Bryce scored a TD against the Rams in the playoffs where another poster used a similar still of Herbert's line to defend his poor performance last night. Like I said, Herbert is a better QB but Bryce wins the game last night for the Chargers. It simply is something he does better than Herbert and would play to his strengths. Someone even said earlier Chargers only win 1 or 2 games this year if Bryce was their QB which is so absurdly laughable it wasn't even worth trying to address. I mean this thread is literally called "Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panther's History" so I understand there is no objective arguments to be had here but I found that amusing.
    • I think his knee would make a good reason to switch to guard IF he returns.  Half don't.  Half of those don't last too long.  The strain on a knee (320lb man) vs speed rushers is more substantial.  So I would keep him if I could on a small contract (he will make $17.5 in 2026 fully guaranteed) and think of him as a possible guard for the post Lewis/Hunt era.  Knee injuries in big men are not invitations to invest in them.
