Steve Smith's postgame comments

Smith seems to be favoring the shoulder that he hurt in the preseason. Plus the crappy passes he had to catch didn't help him any. By the way why is moose running deep pattern with his 36yr old legs? Can the coaches not try K.Moore or Goodson in those situations if Smith is double or triple covered.

Yeah I was L O L

Bombs to Moose

Steve may be said by some to be the most feared WR in Football

But he will never enter the HOF unless he's visiting

All these piss pour seasons will make him another great WR without the extra it takes to get in .

yeah, Smitty appeared to hurt the same shoulder again during the game. Most of Smitty's injuries tend not to always show up on the injury report.......I think his shoulder is pretty banged up. He rarely shows signs of pain but was clearly hurting at one point.

I feel worse for him than anyone else in this whole situation. His incredible talent is wasting away on this team. Think about him if he was a Viking right now. A Colt. A Packer. A Steeler. He would be a sure-fire Hall of Famer by now. Instead, he's had to languish making a career bailing out Jake Delhomme and making morons that know nothing about football think that Jake is decent. He puts so much into what he does and deserves so much more than what this pitiful franchise is offering him.

Same feeling here. What a waste!

Level of support isn't the same this time.

WOW, that quote by Hoov sums it up. The only reason Jake will remain the starter is because Fox and Hurn have to save face for their horrible decisions this off-season.( The extension and not having better comp at the most important position) Damn, the more I type the more I realize that is gonna take a miracle to make the postseason. Its a shame too, because this team has top shelf talent overall. The stubbornness and mediocracy of the coaching staff will prevent it from ever reaching its full potential.

wouldnt have mattered cause delhomme couldnt get the ball deep enough. everything he threw was off target or underthrown

If Steve wanted to leave he would leave... he hasn't left yet. Yes he would shine on a pass- first team but the man can do so much more than catch a football. No player "languishes" on a 12-4 team. No man will "languish" at that pay grade.

Someone said we are the laughing stock of the NFL.... please.... one game, and a 12-4 team that just last year made the playoffs is now the "laughing stock" of the NFL... give me a break..

I can't believe some new members just signed up today for the sole purpose of badmouthing the team and specifically Jake... I pity those "fans."

The weather can't always be fair... not on any team... the tough games really show you the quality and character of the fanbase.

Dude, I said that at the game today. If I was Steve Smith I would get the hell out of Dodge! Can you imagine him in an offense like the Saints, Pats? Man, I bet Brees and Brady would love to have him. Maybe Julius knew what was coming and thats why he wanted out. Can't say that I blame any of them right now. This franchise needs an overhaul in a bad way!!!

I never really thought about this but if Peppers wanted out, was it before or after we gave Delhomme that contract extention. If it was before which I'm guessing it was, then it has nothing to do with it but if it was after, maybe he didn't want to be on a team with Delhomme at QB?

    • This is where I'm at. Dowdle is a feel good story and glad he's proving his doubters wrong. I just don't see how we keep our OL intact (which is the right move) and spend on another RB after giving Chuba his money. Though the odds are against him, I do think Brooks can still be our RB2 next year..and if he stays healthy, our longterm RB1. Having the full offseason with no pressure to try and come back like last year will help. I'm also happy to see he and TD have been connecting.  If this team is smart, they go into next year with Chuba/Brooks/ETN and sign a Dowdle-light version in FA at minimum cost. Chuba is in his prime and a full offseason to fully recharge will only benefit him more. Dowdle is unfortunately a luxury item I don't think we can spend our money on. We still have other areas of need that we have to improve on the defensive side of the ball.
    • last time they loaded the box, shut down the run and forced BY9 to beat them, we saw the result of that. So what can we do this time to beat them? I suspect it's going to require a lot of short / intermediate passes with TE play to help
    • Floyd Mayweather Jr. made hundreds of millions off realizing this. He was an exciting boxer in his early days but watching his dad and uncle struggle with the effects of taking thousands of punches to the head he realized he was skilled enough to good guys without putting himself at risk and he'd just wait for other elite guys to lose a step before facing them. The whole WWE-esque "Money" persona was built around the realization that it doesn't matter if they're watching to see you win or watching hoping you'll lose, all that matters is that they're watching. Force them to love you or hate you, just make sure they care enough to tune in. We had a similar situation with Cam. Everyone felt some kinda way about Cam. You couldn't find many NFL fans who were neutral on Cam Newton. Is was love or hate but either way it was must see TV.
