What exactly happened to the defense vs the saints?

maybe its just the masochist/pessimist side of me but id rather see your weekly breakdown thread be more in depth of what we did wrong in the saints game vs what we are going to do in the falcons game

it's occurred to me it's gonna be hard to write falcons material twice in three weeks so i'm actually thinking about breaking down the falcons this week and then in week 16 basically using the saints game (and several others) as a blueprint on the best possible way to beat the panthers.

though i am suddenly very superstitious about that. what if lovie smith finds it and ruins our undefeated season?

I still have no idea how to create a topic (I literally have no option anywhere), so I'll just put this somewhat relevant question here:

Is Jared Allen doing anything positive really? I've been a fan of his for a while, I don't dislike the guy one bit. That being said, I haven't really seen him make any plays. A couple run stops here and there, which are great, but as far as the pass rush, he's never really been the catalyst. I'm not going to lie, I haven't looked at the stats, so many he just doesn't pass my "eye test", and has more sacks than I seem to recall. But for the most part it really seems like he's just there to be a warm body, and doesn't really provide anything.

And on an unrelated note, whatever happened to Everette Brown? I remember he was a high draft pick a few years ago, but I don't remember ever seeing him doing anything lol. Little twisty DE.

My take (having only watched the game once with my heart going 200 bpm) was that our zone was too soft and we got almost zero pressure on Brees.  The Saints have tall receivers and we have fairly short DBs and Brees was able to make quick drops and quick reads and find holes in the zone.

I'm unsure why we didn't play more man... we didn't blitz all that much, and when we did, they picked it up.

Honestly the Saints always play us tough, sometimes it's just the matchup.

Fortunately we have Zues/Superman/Hulk as a QB and scored more points than they did.  Problem solved.
