Well when you play variations of cover 2 and cover 3 this is pretty much what happens.  Kind of the reason many players were saying norman isn't a true shutdown corner, because he mainly sticks to his side of the field.   Now granted he follows the best WR to one side or the other, which he started doing this year but generally still plays zone.

Why do you think norman plays so close on the line of scrimmage?  He knows he has help over top.  No way in hell he could keep up with Julio or Beckham.

He is a great zone corner though.  One of the best in the league.  But he's no Revis Island.

Hard to say what he could do. I think he could play whatever we need him to play. One of the biggest issues with him has been keeping him disciplined enough to play zone and not free lance. He plays zone very well because that is what we ask him to do. Not because that is all he can do.

kinda confused- teams haven't shied away from throwing downfield on us this year. I'm worried about our lack of pass rush on these long throws than our coverage

Our pass rush is... acceptable. A majority of the time the QB is throwing off their mark. So we are getting pressure... but pressure alone won't be enough for the playoffs. We still rank 3rd in Sacks at 42 behind New England and Denver, respectively.

I think it is more due to our scheme that we aren't seeing the ends produce, because they are funneling the QB back down into KKs waiting arms, not so much KK+Star pushing the QB out towards the ends. This will be a problem in the playoffs if they can't round those corners faster. Palmer, Wilson, Rodgers... all guys who know how to finesse the pocket.

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
    • Proper stud that would look even better if they could upgrade Scott. And get a resemblance of pressure on the QB
