2015 Player of the Week / Month Awards Summary Tables

With the news that Cam won Player of the Week for Week 17, and KK won Player of the Month for December, I thought it would be interesting to check the totals of awards by team for the 2015 Regular Season.

As I suspected, no other team came very close to the Panthers:

Panthers had 12 total awards (8 weekly / 4 monthly)

Denver had 8 awards (6 weekly / 2 monthly)

Pittsburgh also had 8 awards (5 weekly / 3 monthly)

Arizona had 7 awards (6 weekly / 1 monthly)

Minnesota had 6 awards (5 weekly / 1 monthly)

7 teams had 5 awards

3 teams had 4 awards

8 teams had 3 awards

6 teams had 2 awards

2 teams had 1 award

and 1 poor team (San Francisco) had 0 awards.

I'll post tables with details below.

By the way, some of us were speculating that Kirk Cousins won the NFC offensive player of the month award over Cam because they wouldn't give a monthly award to 2 players from the same team.  But at least for the AFC, that wasn't true.  New England won 2 Player of the Month awards in Sept., and Pittsburgh won 2 Player of the Month awards in December.

In addition to the five weeks he won Player of the week, Cam was nominated 5 other times for a total of 10 wins / nominations

Thomas Davis was nominated 4 times.

Luke Kuechly was nominated 3 times and won 1 time. (4 total)

Brad Nortmann was nominated 3 times

KK Short was nominated 2 times and won 1 time (3 total)

Greg Olsen was nominated 2 times

Ted Ginn was nominated 2 times

Josh Norman was nominated 1 time in addition to his 1 win (2 total)

Other players to be nominated:  Bene Benwikere, Kurt Coleman, Ryan Delaire, Devin Funchess, Graham Gano, AJ Klein, Jonathan Stewart, Charles Tillman.

So Cam won 5 PoW, tied for the most ever and had 2 wins in a month's span with another nomination in the last quarter of the games. Won PoW the week in 5 of the last 10 weeks, with 2 nominations that he didn't win and couldn't pull down a PoM for either of the last 2 months? I wonder how they gauge their PoM standings.

great stuff KBF

kirk cousins landing that last OPOTM was pathetic. cam beat his ass in every stat that matters. the only possible argument is that cousins led his team to a division win, but so what? so did cam, and secured the number one seed too, in a year when the second seed was a freaking 14-2 juggernaut.

i can't wait til the panthers are perennially dominant to the point where the league tries to make up special rules to make it fair for everyone else.

Here are the NFC Awards:

Note for this table, I've also noted the Panthers' opponent each week, and any other Panthers nominated by the team for the weekly awards.

Take it for what it's worth but Cam Newton wins NFC player of the week award every time FunFun has a TD.
