Minor update on the Manning HGH story

Most players that get caught doing drugs are suspended and fans call them stupid.  Manning does it and get called out by a reporter.  Manning and the NFL send "investigators" to the reporter's parents' home(mob move), and no one bats eye. Interesting, and fug Manning

Manning didn't get 'caught'.  He's never tested positive for anything, and since the report came out he's been more than willing to be tested and cooperate with investigators.

Manning and several other athletes were named in a very poorly investigated report by an organization that's now defunct based on a single source who turned out to be just a guy trying to make himself sound important.

And heck, it's not like Manning's athleticism was ever one of his strong suits anyway.

Put it this way.  If Manning has bought and is using any performance enhancing drugs, he should ask for a refund because it doesn't look like they're helping.

Playing football at this level is borderline certifiable………….Jerome Bettis once said that if a person would play one set of downs at the pro level their body would never feel the same again.

Most credible sources will admit off the record that about 60 to 80% of players will use some sort of steroid/HGH stack and even utilize insulin in their drug schedule.

With the exception of oil based injectable steroids, the rest of the stuff can easily be masked and/or timed to slip past any drug testing screen that exists. In fact you can’t do anything to catch someone for insulin and HGH has such a quick half life in the blood stream.

All that stated………..I don’t have an issue with anyone who wants to play this sport and decides to take the risks involved with this path………….on the other hand we should not hold this sport up in front of our kids as the ideal to strive for………

As a former natural bodybuilder in the 70s (quit because I didn’t want to go the chemical route) who has weight trained for 45 years now, I realize how difficult it is to obtain and maintain a high level of lean muscle body mass and how easily it can all be compromised by an injury in a contact sport like this.……….and PEDs in football and sports in general are used as much if not more so for shortening recovery from injury as they are for performance enhancement.

Pro football is a very dangerous endeavor which I enjoy watching the skill set involved ……..but at the same time cringe at the level of violence and what condition it leaves the body in afterwards…………. And the PEDs available can be even a bigger risk to utilize.

This is a very difficult subject to address and come to a conclusion about as fans, players, coaches and owners….……..and it must leave Goodell and the top brass at NFL headquarters sleepless at night as to how to balance all the injuries, head trauma and drug use with this image as a business trying to grow its statue even more.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
