A Touch of Conveniently Timed Class from Rick Bonnell

Seems a bit petty and unnecessary...

Why share this?  I mean, i get that PJ isn't some upstanding citizen, and obviously, that starts somewhere, but this just seemed unprofessional on Rick's behalf.  And why not share it before PJ is traded?  You don't think he will ever be in NC again?  Lol.  You don't think his family still lives here?  Several tweeters started going at Bonnell for this and his retorts were childish and laughable ("well my journalist friends said i'm right, so nah nah nah boo boo" and "you guys always want me to share stories, then i do and you get mad at me.")  He just doesn't get it.

Also, while reading up on stuff about the trade, i visited The Observer's Hornets page for the first time in at least over a year, and man, does Bonnell even work anymore?  There's hardly any coverage...  such a disappointment.  You hardly cover our team, you hardly write anything about them even if you do, and you have been on record numerous times basically saying you hate your job, but find time to quickly get this little anecdote out right after the subject has been traded out of town.  Good job, big man.

Also, i have to take this time to say, MAN, i was wrong about PJ.  I thought he had his hiccups, but also all the makings of a go-to scorer.  In all honesty, i'm convinced he was not putting in the work, and i think his production and personality point to that.  He wasn't even shooting like he did in the d-league, and i mean wide open threes.  To me, he always seemed a bit chunky and like he didn't have his legs here, which is obviously due to a lack of conditioning.  Maybe getting away from home is what he needs, but what a disappointment.  On the brightside, he was low-risk, low-cost experiment that didn't pan out.  And after seeing his lack of improvement and horrible shooting (which is inexcuseable for him) over the last two years, i'm glad the experiment is over.

Obviously it bothered him and he's been waiting to report this until PJ was gone. It's passive aggressive, but honestly it doesn't surprise me

What's really sad is the fact that he considered her "intimidating him"- like common dude this is a tale as old as time- people are defensive about their kids- it's in our genetic code, no reason to try and slander her

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
