The DT situation...

Isn't it funny that we have gone almost all week without anyone mentioning the DT situation? Jake has successfully put all the attention on him that we haven't really discussed what was the biggest story of training camp and preseason. I'll be the first to say that I thought Leonard looked good and really showed a good motor. There was almost no running room up the middle as most of the plays for long gains went outside. I think Leonard will eventually be a starter and Hayden will rotate in between him and Lewis. Did anyone ever see Sunny Harris in the game? I know the game against the Eagles wasn't a fair assesment of the defense because they were put in that situation so it will be interesting to see how they do against a power running team like the Falcons.

Thoughts?

True, but I got to say I see promise out of louis. Watched phins game earlier with falcons and they completely bottled up turner, which I dont know if that scares me or is promissing. Norwood did kill them though. More so on passes.

Think im less concerned with running game against falcons. Knowing we will scheme to it so much as an attempt to shut it down what scares me is what routinely kills us against the falcons. TE. It always seems they kill us with TE. Crumpler used to drub us early and duckett after possible adjustments late. What concerns me even more was gonzo's play on sunday against the phins. Was a big outlet for Ryan and was playing lights out like he had something to prove. Which was mentioned by the callers as gonzo state such to them repeatedly.

Wasn't even active. And I was really looking forward to seeing him in rotation.

Really? I didn't catch that. Anyone see big Kris Jenkins drop back as a LB and then into coverage for the Jets last Sunday. Rex Ryan is a crazy dude but he sure confused the hell out of Schaub and that offense.

I know, I really like fox and what he brings, but his lack of what he brings disappoints me more and more every day. Inovation could mask a hell of alot of this defenses lack of ability and feature other abilities. Ie beason and davis speed. Peps speed to cover.

Oddly the only game I really saw innovation was super bowl when pats clearly knew what we were doing and passed at will. That game we begin dropping pep in coverage, but did not blitz.

The zone blitz is very good at confusing offenses. Especially blockers and the QB. And what sucks is we have tremendous athletes throughout this D that could make many a creative D coordinator salivate. Pep probably the most athletic player in the league, Davis a very fast and agile (converted S), and Beason a very well rounded tackling machine. Fox I know you've heard the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well I kinda think the last two games (and 4 preseason games) say that something is broken and please god find a way to fix it.

Sometimes I wish we had brought Dom back as a DC, but I doubt he ever would. He really is a defensive genius and the weird thing is he took a group of personnel that shouldn't be suited for a 3-4 and made it work. Imagine what someone like that could do here with our more adaptable group of guys.

Took the words right outta my mouth.

But I'm also fine with Meeks, as long as he incorporates more blitzing than most Tampa 2 teams, because offensive lines are just too good anymore for just 4 rushers. And I think we saw a bit of that against Philly where he blitzed but that game can't really be used as a tool because of how unusually it unfolded.
