Le'Raven Clark

6'5", 36 1/8" Arm Length, 316LBS, 11 7/8" Hands

I know people aren't really considering OTs in the top rounds and given our history, it's likely we won't take one but man, this guy is a monster. 12" hands and 36+ arms?

Clark started 51 straight games for the Red Raiders, spending his final three years at left tackle and his freshman season at right guard. All three years at left tackle, he earned All-Big 12 honors, and as a senior he was named a second-team All-American for his efforts. It's unclear where Clark's best position will be at the next level; he flashes the lateral agility and recovery speed to play on the edge against college pass rushers, so he should get a shot at left tackle. Its possible, though, that Clark might be best inside where he can lock on and create creases for the running game. His durability, pro-ready body (6-6, 313), and next-level tenacity make him a likely NFL starter wherever he lines up.

"He's going to end up being big time in our league. He's got elite foot quickness, he's long and he's smart. He'll keep getting better once he gets to a pro offense and away from that stuff Texas Tech does and he'll become one of the top five tackles in our league." -- NFC personnel director

Anyone take a liking to this prospect? It's a long shot he winds up here but if we want a future LT, he fits the mold.

Clark and Spriggs are my two favorite realistic options at OT for us in the draft.

For sure.  It seems most years, OL's measurables are looked at so intently and there's always an area for pause but Clark checks off on all fronts it seems.  When he played Ogbah it was basically a draw and has gone against top competition his collegiate career.  Given our unpredictability, watch us end up taking a tackle high to many people's dismay haha.

Dismay?  If there's an LT with the talent to justify the pick I'd think most here would be ecstatic that we got him at the end of the first.  We lost the SB because our tackles couldn't hold up and our receivers couldn't get open quickly or consistently enough to cover up for our line problems.

The "dismay" line was somewhat of a generalization. There's a crowd that tends to annually shut down the idea of a tackle early; which in fairness, many top tackles have been busting lately.

Clark is in the same area that I view Neal (S), Bullard (DE/DT), Ogbah (DE), Doctson (WR), Will Jackson III (CB)

    • I simply acknowledge BY is the QB.  And just like we did when we drafted him.....the type O you would need to setup around him for success was always pretty simple.  But we have done virtually the opposite.  XL dropping some passes isn't why we were ranked the 32nd O and 30th passing the past 2 years.  *Ricky Prohel was brought up only in regards to role function he served on the team.  Niche/specialist.   He wasn't eating up the snaps in the O.    AT should have a similar snap %. People could MAUL Ricky Prohel and put hands all over him.   We got to the Super Bowl in part because we were mauling guys (our slot CB).   You can't do that now.  AT has a MUCH easier life and still can't get open.  Or run.    If you live in 3 WR sets, with a weak armed QB, and you choose to put someone who can't get open or run in the slot.......well, your are going to have a weak pass O.  That's by design IMO.
    • Thielen's yards per reception was higher last year than any of Renfrows career.  His per game productivity last year as an old slow receiver the same as Renfrows 1 good season. These things are easy to find.
    • With 1 more game but yeah hopefully Canales is better, obviously Rhule sucked. Better than Reich though and jury out on DC. Of course Wilks’ interim stint was the best we’ve had since 2017 but I give Tepper zero credit for that
