I love Josh, but, realistically, his value on this team is maxed out at about 7 million

Josh had a great year and a half, in our system. Hate to lose him but best wishes. We should get a CB in the second or third and keep winning.

I have a strong feeling that our zone-coverage system, along with our front-7 are a strong reason why Josh had so much success.

Physically, there is nothing elite about Josh, other than his notorious smack talk. He didn't have elite speed, height or strength that set him apart from any other CB.

I guess what I am saying is that he is a product of our system, rather than his own singular abilities.

Thrtes no reason why we can't find another DB with his measurables in another DB.

It doesn't hurt that there is an extra 14-mil that's opened-up on our salary cap. GMan can do wonders with that type of money...and no doubt that he will give us lots to talk about over the next few months.

Where was this system when Florence and Decoud where getting burned every other week?

Do yourself a favor get a subscription to All-22 and watch some panthers defensive tape, Norman would literally erase one side of the field with no help. Lets just say we better hope our offense takes it up a notch next season.

7 million LOL

Some of y'all are selling Josh short a bit. Cason, Florence, and Tillman to an extent were getting burnt in this system that Josh excelled in. After learning the system, Jno thrived. I go back to that play against Seattle in the playoffs were he sacked Wilson. That was all Josh. No other CB even thinks to make that play. That int against the saints that sealed the win. Very few corners in the league get to that ball. He saved our ass on that play.

So, i will agree he's not worth 16...but he's worth more than 7.

    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
    • The last 8 weeks, Nix had 2,022 yards, 21 TDs, 6 INTs on 70% completions While Bryce's last 8 games he had 1,709 yards, 12 TDs (albeit adding 5 more rushing), 3 INTs on 61% completions. I'm not going to pretend I watched those Broncos games to know exactly how Nix actually looked, but in retrospect, his statistics were better.  Hell, in just his final 8 games, Nix had only 5 less TD passes than Bryce has in his 30 game (28 starts) career. And you said he had better WRs than Bryce did, but I'm not even sure that's even true either. Sutton and Thielen might be completely different types of WRs, but I'd say they are pretty equal on effectiveness if not even a slight edge to Thielen (63.6 YPG for Sutton to 61.5 for Thielen).  Then XL and Coker vs Marvin Mims and Devaughn Vale, again, at worst a push, if not lean in our favor there too. Why is it so hard for some Panthers fans to just objectively look at our team/Bryce and be honest with themselves. ? He was significantly improved the final two months of the season from his first season and a half.  But he was still a below average QB during that time, even if he had a few good throws and clutch moments.
