Captain Munnerlyn was better than Gamble today from where I was sitting.

Must be embarrassing for the vet getting paid the big bucks to get outplayed by a rookie 7th rounder, and it wasn't even close. Captain played aggressively and was flying around. Gamble pretty much seemed content to float around in the zone and then take the easy tackle after the catch had already been made for the first down.

If I were him I would be humiliated. That is, if he were capable of emotion to begin with.

Apparently, you were sitting in a damn good seat! Quite a few of us tried tellin' people in the draft and during TC that he WILL perform well for this team.

I really think this was more defensive scheme than anything else. They are playing a soft cover two scheme and a little man to man but thats it. No exotic blitzes or coverages. We will see a lot of QB's pick us apart this season unless we change the philosophy of this defense.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
