Could/Should we have challenged the 4th and 1?

Does anyone think this should have been challenged?  I understand why we didnt because we just used a challenge and needed timeouts at that point..but i thought I saw an angle where it looked like he got stopped short.  I'll have to go back and look but was anyone else thinking this?

Wasn't enough evidence to overturn.

If there's a 4th down we could have a re-do on, I'd take our 4th and 1 on our opening drive of the second half. We were running the ball down their throats and Denver's front seven was running out of gas. We had them on the ropes and Shula had a brainfart of a play call on 3rd down. I would've lined up on 4th down and at least seen what defensive look they were going to give us. Hell, we were throwing timeouts away left and right anyway, if we didn't like the look we could've always called a timeout and punted after trying to draw them offsides.

No. Not enough evidence to overturn. But the lost timeout (since Ron didn't throw the challenge on the third down play) cost us the game. With that timeout, we would have had more time to get in a better FG position

Yeah, i also was thinking he might have been better off not calling the timeout and just throwing the challenge and taking the chance, since he would have lost the timeout anyway if he didnt win the challenge.  I guess he wanted to make sure he didnt waste the challenge.  But that definitely did not cost us the game.  We also had to use a timeout because we didnt get to the line fast enough and that was probably worse.

it all depends on when his forward progress was stopped and when the whistle blew. At one point, CJ Anderson was stuffed and actually went backwards to find another open hole and was tackled short of the line of gain. But the refs decided to spot the ball where his forward progress was stopped on his initial push.

I thought he still might have been short even after that extra push.  I guess i need to go back and look after work.
