Coaching or Execution?

There is still no proof in those videos.  Maybe someone was out of position?  Maybe his earpiece wasn't working?  Can't draw any real conclusions unless you want to go with the announcer's insight that he was frustrated because the play didn't get in, in time.

Ridiculous drawing conclusions when in fact nobody knows poo outside the coaches box and the huddle (the actual huddle, not this one).

The only proof in the videos is that we wasted timeouts for no reason. I'm not drawing conclusions either, I'm just speculating.

Maybe Mike Shula sends the play to Ken Dorsey and then he has to send it out to Cam and his elongated voice can't get it out on time. Maybe Cam is just too slow when calling the play in the huddle, which also might be why he excels in the hurry up two minute style offense. Maybe alien lifeforms wanted to contact us and instead accidentally interfered with our teams headsets.

There's more than enough blame to go around but it always starts from the top with the coaching. We've been sloppy and undisciplined before. This isn't something new. However, this season feels like 2012 all over again.

It's up to Rivera, Washington, Proehl, Wilks, McDermott, Matsko, etc to fix the problem now and stop the hemorrhaging. We weren't the most proficient offense and defense last year but we we're much less sloppy.

No it is up to the players to listen to what the coaches are saying and be more disciplined.  I am sure the coaches arent saying that players should commit needless penalties and drop passes.  And it is easy to just say then sit their butts and play other people.  But when the people often making mistakes and causing penalties are your starting all pro center, your star receiver and your MVP quarterback, you cant exactly do that without causing huge issues inn other arenas.  This isnt high school, this is the pros.  These guys have shown they can do the right thing and be disciplined so they need to be accountable for their own behavior and stop the stupid mistakes.  Sure the ultimate responsibility may be from the top down but the actual problems need to be fixed from the bottom up where they are actually being committed.

A 5 minute glance at the stats will clearly indicate that the issue is execution, or lack thereof.

Of course, I believe a lot of the execution issues do fall on the coaching staff.  For example, the inability to get a play in quickly or to get players on and off the field.  We lead the league in number of delay of game penalties. And that doesn't count the timeouts we have had to call because of delays.

Speculate: form a theory or conjecture about a subject without firm evidence.

It's ok to speculate as long as you don't try to present it as facts which so many people try to do.

If I read it on the interwebz it must be true. They can't print it unless it's true. So if somebody tells me that Shula sucks, I can take that to the bank. To me, the biggest problem is that when folks want to vent, they don't always stick to the facts to support their argument.  Facts be dammed. I am a fan, and I ain't happy.

Under RR, we are consistently one of the least penalized teams. I expect this area to be cleaned up sooner that later. I also expect Cam to get his act together. One reason or another, that smile has been absent. When that smile returns...

Coaching, easily.

The plays that are called are not fitting to the circumstances at hand. Even executed properly it isn't the right plays to be called and players would be struggling to execute properly.

Sure a 20 yard route call taking forever to develop on 3rd and 4 in the beginning of 4th quarter, or reverse COULD play out but why are you putting that stress on the players? Why are you getting all fancy and making it harder than it needs to be?

Players shouldnt be be trying to force something to fit or work, call a play they can easily execute and  it being more of a matter of playing good football. Simple as that, especially when we are already struggling.

Shula has actually given a lot of checkdowns. For example, on the safety, Ed Dickson is wide open in the flat. Cam just either doesn't see him or wants a bigger play. I have never seen Cam hold onto the ball so long in a game till last Sunday.
