Another band that deserves it's own thread...Twenty One Pilots

I challenge anyone to bring ANY band forth to challenge for musical and lyrical integrity.  I'll match them song for song with TOP. 

No band has this diversity (Bronn...15) along with actually being listenable.  Make no mistake this is a pop band because they incorporate almost every pop sound there is, but it doesn't take away from their superiority.

Plz explain this part of your post to me.  Do you honestly think that Metallica, Guns N' Roses, or the Rolling Stones had this diversity in their music?  You can' believe that.  

Look I grew up in the 80's.  I worshipped Metallica and G'n'R.  No way they were as diverse as this band.  No fuging way.  And the thing is that it isn't the diversity that makes TOP so good, but it's how GOOD they are at it.

And I remember how people poo on Metallica, G'n'R, Pink Floyd etc.  Don't be that person.

I think you're mistaking your interpretation of diversity...

All the other bands you mentioned pretty much had a style that they stuck to and became legendary at.

Twenty One Pilots has a style that they are sticking to. It is basically hip-hop with elements of pop. This doesn't make them musically diverse. They still have the same style.

My point was that, while they may be somewhat diverse in their sampling or whatever, Twenty One Pilots will never be on a legendary level that the bands you mentioned were/are.

Anyone, really, can, and does, do what Twenty One Pilots do. They've just gotten really good at what they are doing and had the industry backing them up with airplay, etc. That doesn't make them superior from a talent or diversity standpoint.

If it is something that you go through a phase with, it isn't really all that extraordinary. Most people into Twenty One Pilots today are the same kind of people that were in the numetal and mall metal phases (I'm guilty) but never really got out, or teenage girls, or other young people who haven't really defined their musical tastes yet.

Meh, we'll just agree to disagree.  I still remember when Metallica hit big.  Nearly everyone that wasn't a fan said the same thing you say about TOP.  Same with bands like Nirvana and Gun's N' Roses.  

I've actually tried looking for stuff similar to what TOP does and haven't found anything close.  Granted I have to rely on youtube suggestions but if you know of any other bands with a similar style as TOP I'd love to hear them.  Something different than what was posted earlier though, because while I liked those songs they didn't hit me in quite the same way.  

But I guess that's what makes music so great.  Somebody could listen to TOP and have the exact opposite reaction of mine.  

As for your last statement, I'm not young anymore and I'm certainly not a teenage girl, but I have defined my musical taste and it is pretty wide as I can listen to pretty much anything as long as I feel a connection on some level.

Twenty One Pilots, at least so far, are basically Incubus with a more pop side lean... and Incubus was way better in their day... lol

Even most of TOP's image schtick is stolen from the rap/nu-metal era...

But yes, I do like me some of TOP's stuff... but to call them the GOAT? LMAO

Of course GOAT is in jest.  Just really like the band what can I tell you.   Incubus was good but TOP is better IMO.  Look I like all kinds of music but it's rare to me that a band comes along that I like all of their songs.  TOP is one of them.  Gun N' Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden are a few others.  Really I happened along TOP by mistake one day and was really surprised at how good they are.  It's subjective of course and everyone has their opinion.  But TOP has some brilliant stuff and so I posted this thread as a heads up to others that may like music and may have never heard them.
