How did anyone have faith in this defense coming into the season?

As much as this is on DG more than anyone...at some point Ron is SUPPOSED to be a defensive genius...that is why he got the damn job in the first place...because his scheme was supposed to be able to do more with less.

Why on god green earth does Ron need 1st round defensive talent at every position to be viable on defense?

So now instead of surrounding our damn MVP QB with talent...Ron needs All-Pro, first round defensive talent to not have QBs go for 500 yards? Thereby taking VALUABLE resources away from the QB that has basically been playing on the same offense that was the worst offense of all time the year prior to his arrival. Instead of getting that side of the ball some help...we are  literally trying to pack the defense with 1st round talent across the board.

And then come October, ask our talent-less offense and once in a generation QB to go hand 50 on the Broncos and win shootouts with the Saints...because our defense still needs more time to "work out the kinks."

He doesn't need first round talent. He needs football IQ and discipline.

He didn't have Champ Bailey and Revis as his corners in San Diego, but he sure as hell had guys that knew where to be and what to do.

Worley, Bradberry...hell even Teddy Williams certainly don't lack talent and physical ability.

They lack "know-how" and just need experience covering at this level. That's why you need vets to fill in while these dudes learn, otherwise you are at mercy to their learning curves.

There were quite a few posters who were condescending to anyone who ever said a thing about Gettleman or questioned any of the moves made this past offseason. A few of them are quiet now.

Should have kept the damn tag on Norman. At least it would've given us a year to groom Bradberry and given the rookies on the def time to adjust while Norman was shutting down his side. It would've saved Bene also, as his role wouldn't have been as big and he could've truly healed. Too much was put on him and the rookie CB's. I'd bet 2 of the 3 rookies won't ever really amount to much (Worley, Sanchez).

Like I said I can call them out but I'm not, all the excuses and explanation on the moves we made were pure speculation and stupid logic. Literally every move he makes is gold in some people's eyes, keeping Norman was a no brainer IF not you gotta get a vet at that position, no way do you throw a rookie in at CB with minimal help. We relied way too much in players improving and the draft, way too much there's was no backup plan, no body to push starters, makes me laugh some people thought Bene could be better then Norman. Bene was a good backup that wasn't starter material. The worst part is seeing this go down and ain't poo you can do but just hope the team prevails over the lack of talent in key position.
